A380 Realistic Engine Sound Mod

  • Even if you delete the lufthansa_old from the ZK_b747_..._(LiveryVulk, ...).tme pack specifically, the other liveries like Pan Am and Ryanair don't work properly?

Those are probably the only ones that work, the 747 Ryanair and Pan Am, which I already had via another source.
The other ones, like the A350, A380, B777 and but not limited to the B737-800, they instantly CTD.

  • Alright, it has been released. Let me know what you guys think 🙂

And AeRodri, you can insert the .tsb file to both 787s. This audio should override the default one.

Sounds very good, i will test it out this weekend. I hope to test out the B787 disconnect sound this evening, thank you for converting it.

EDIT: ZK Aviation Is it true that soundsets like the A380 one, or the B787 autopilot sound, can just be placed inside its aircraft folder in the userfolder, without having to edit nor add anything in the system/parameters/options files? I just placed the autopilot disconnect sound in the aircraft’s b787 and b787_9 folder, but it still uses the 777 disconnect sound by default… did i miss anything?

The file placement is what I did for the mobile version (b787/autopilot_disconnect_warning.tsb), and I assumed it would behave the same for the FS 4's user directory.

Idea: try copying the option.tmc from the ZK_modded folder and paste it one path upwards (ex: b787/option.tmc in the user folder). Curious to see what happens

Just tested the idea/suggestion, but it did not work for the autopilot sounds on the B787/B787-9, it still uses the 777 disconnect sound by default…

EDIT: Either I'm going bonkers, or none of the sound packs that I added in the user folder seem to be working... I had different sound packs for the b773er, the b777f and the b747. On top of that, I'm also unable to hear the new A380 sounds that you created. Something is seriously wrong here....

  • I just found out that Aerofly FS 4 does not seem to handle sound overrides from the user-folder the same way it handles liveries, sceneries, elevations or even some TMD overrides.

I spent quite a bit of time testing this on macOS with the Steam version, specifically using the official user folder at:

    /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Aerofly FS 4/aircraft

At first I assumed the issue was my folder structure, but after multiple tests on the A380 and 787, I noticed that simply dropping replacement .tsb files into the mirrored aircraft folder inside the user-folder does not work, even when:

    • the filename is identical to the stock file
    • the aircraft folder structure matches exactly
    • the sim correctly loads other mods from that same user-folder
    • liveries, scenery, elevation and TMD tweaks all work fine

I tested things like autopilot_disconnect_warning.tsb by placing the replacement sound in the exact same mirrored path as the stock aircraft, but Aerofly kept using the original sound every single time.

After digging deeper into the stock aircraft structure inside the .app package, it looks like newer FS4 aircraft (A380, 787, etc.) use a more tightly integrated sound system where the sounds are referenced internally through TMD/system logic rather than behaving like simple file-priority overrides from the user-folder.

So from what I can tell through testing, Aerofly FS 4 does NOT reliably do a “user-folder sound replacement” lookup for .tsb files the way many of us assumed. It seems sounds only work properly if the aircraft’s TMD/system definitions are also adapted accordingly, or if files are modified directly inside the installed aircraft package itself, which obviously IPACS does not recommend because updates overwrite everything.

Just sharing this FYI because I genuinely thought I was doing something wrong at first, but after reproducing the same behavior across multiple aircraft, it really looks like a simulator limitation/behavior rather than user error.

ZK Aviation Maybe there’s a way to adapt the sound packs so they work fully from the user-folder environment on PC/Mac without touching the main installed .app aircraft files? That would probably be the cleanest long-term solution for everyone.

  • I'd probably need to mute the volumes in the tmd files. I think that's the only solution I can think of at the moment. The .tsb files placement was to try to keep things simple, but I guess it's not the case for PC 😂.

I can try it for the 787's a/p disconnect and share the content here to test.

  • Hoping for realistic B777 GE90 mod.

I have tried making a realistic 777 engine sound mod and here's the result. Hope you like it. Watch here

Also, I have tried to make a windier version of the A380 engines based from ZK's files. I have also modified the APU/cockpit background sound to sound quieter and more realistic. Here it is
