Baro flashing on PFD

  • If you switch to STD before transition altitude, once you reach transition, STD will start flashing and remain flashing until you drop below transition and switch back to barometric. No amount of switching back and forth will stop the flashing until you drop below transition.

Changed the title of the thread from “Baro flashing on ND” to “Baro flashing on PFD”.
  • What aircraft are you using, what route are you flying?

Check the FMS mode of the aircraft. If you are in the descent or approach mode then the aircraft expects you to eventually switch to QNH and stay there. Switching to STD pressure is undesired then. If you're in takeoff or climb mode then the aircraft expects you to switch to STD pressure. To switch from descent or approach mode back to climb mode you need to insert a new cruise altitude.

  • I started out in the a320neo, then switched to the a350. I was flying CYZT Port Hardy to KSEA Seattle on full autopilot. I normally switch AFTER it starts flashing, but I got ahead of myself that time. I had my crz altitude set from the beginning which was a bit sloppy on my part. I thought a small logic update was required. If "transition event" AND "in STD", do nothing, else flash. But, if you say this is by design, then I'll just be more diligent.

I think this has to do with another bug that has already been reported and is already fixed internally. Manually inserted transition altitude or transition levels are currently ignored still.
