Hi everyone,
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying flying the Vietnam Airlines A320neo in Aerofly FS recently. However, while spending some time in the exterior view, I couldn't help but notice that the colors feel a bit different compared to the real-world aircraft. After looking closer, I found a few interesting details I’d love to share and discuss with the community.
First, regarding the base color, the in-game fuselage is painted in a relatively high-saturation bright royal blue. In reality, Vietnam Airlines is famous for its iconic custom Teal—a unique blue-green blend with distinct green undertones that give the aircraft a deeper, more elegant look.
Second, the paint texture in the simulator appears somewhat flat, resembling a standard matte or solid paint coat. The real-world aircraft, however, uses a premium pearlescent metallic paint. It catches the light beautifully under the sun, sometimes showing subtle golden highlights, and shifts into a rich dark green on overcast days.
Lastly, there is a minor detail on the engine cowlings. In the sim, the entire engine cowl is painted a uniform solid dark blue. On the real VNA A321neo, the bottom half of the engine cowling is actually painted white, and the front intake lip features a distinct titanium-silver metallic ring, which adds a nice bit of contrast.
This color variation is most likely due to the simulator simplifying PBR (Physically Based Rendering) textures to keep framerates smooth on mobile devices, or perhaps a slight color code oversight during development. That being said, it is still fantastic to have this beautiful aircraft available to fly on a mobile platform!
Have any of you noticed these subtle differences as well? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
