  • Hi. I was landing in belfast city and found this. Where is the Cranes of Harland & wolf that build the titanic??? Or where is the stadium? Where is the Titanic museum?Remains of Hilden mill that was the biggest wool company in the world???? And why are there only 4 airports in Northern Ireland? All get uglier and Uglier? There are 3 airports that needs to be added. Wait. Actully more! There are thousands of POIs in Nortern Ireland! And I am just saying!

If you fell affended or makes this tou sad just say!

  • You could add below all the POIs that might be interesting to implement, but I'm afraid the 3D Stadium is finished. As for the cranes and the Tinanic Museum, they would be nice additions.

  • I will anticipate my compilation of XREF objects:

    • The stadium is available as XREF object stadium_double_00
    • Harbour cranes are available as XREF objects gantry_crane_00 and gantry_crane_01

  • It's true that Belfast is a rather poor city.

Apart from the two airports and two cranes,
you can quickly see everything the city has to offer.

There are no stadiums, neither Kingspan Stadium nor even Clearer Twist National Stadium at Windsor Park.

  • I take this thread as an opportunity to advertise contributions from our user group. It's not difficult to create POIs.

I added 1 stadium, 2 harbour cranes and 1 shrubs to the demonstration in Belfast:

  • Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything on SketchUp in 3D, So I'm going to try to place the Stade de la Tuilière there, which is right next to the LSGL.. Do you think I can manage it? Although this stadium on xref isn't entirely accurate.

  • The XREF objects listed by me are all part of the FS 4 in the directory

    • '.../Aerofly FS 4 Flight Simulator/scenery/xref'

There are TMI files in the individual subfolders, which list the correct names in the lines <[string8u][name][]>.

The advantage of these XREF objects is that they are available as standard objects and can be called with little effort as POI - and this call requires very little data storage space. The disadvantage is that there is only what is set there by FS 4. With missing e.g. boots and ships as well as railway vehicles.

If you want objects other than the XREF objects, you have to create them. If this actually also concerns standard objects (such as railway vehicles), then it would be nice to create them as XREF objects as well and then save them in the user directory:

    • '.../Aerofly FS 4/scenery/xref'

I know that's possible, but I can't deliver anything myself.

  • My AIRPORTS and POI are always only for the FS 4. As far as I know, FS 4 scenarios for Android can be partially converted, but not for iOS. But I have no real knowledge about that.

  • This is really cool. I'll try this with Bahrain. As a complete newbie to this stuff, can I convert models to work with FS4? Would you say it's quite tricky to do? As an example, I found this model online https://www.artstation.com/artwork/BkJrEA

  • I can't contribute anything to the creation of TMB files for objects, maybe chrispriv and Rodeo can help here. My knowledge relates to the application of existing models.

In my experience, designing POI and AIRPORTS with XREF objects is relatively easy, because you only need very little data and the models are already available. Therefore, I would also like to encourage other users to try this out and to make the FS 4 more lively.

  • CH - Stadium POI added under xref. !

Here's my first attempt at integrating a stadium from xref. which is located next to LSGL. It's not perfect, but it fills that little void there.

Thanks to ApfelFlieger for his help. I'd lost track a bit since FS2.
As Michael said, it's not that difficult, however nothing is ever easy...

    Hi,

I often use free models to integrate them in FS4.
    1. Your example is not a free one, you may check https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com or https://sketchfab.com to find free models.
    2. You have to be familiar with Blender or AC3D, because IPACS provides converters for these tools.
    3. We need file formats which can be read by these tools. So often another file conversion with internet converters is necessary.
    4. Then you'll work with the tools to rescale, reposition and rework the imported model. Mostly you have to flip the single sided faces and remap the textures to the model. Also deal with graphical problems, because the IPACS converter will stop there.
    5. And as a last step you run the aerofly_converter to integrate the model in FS4. Fortunately the autogen buildings will be automatically replaced by your model. Also there exist some more operations to clear the existing scenery.

So as a summary, it is fun to add objects to FS4, if you are willing to learn the tools. We can go through the steps in detail, if you decide to try it.

  • Thanks so much! I shall experiment this weekend, it does sound like fun. I'll msg you once I know what parts I am struggling with.

    Cheers!

  • Hi Rodeo,

The price of AC3D is indeed $179 for one user, right?

And what is the validity period for the license key with upgrades?

    Thanks for your reply.
