B747-8 vs A340-600 (civilized pls!!)

  • Yeah, that’s great news

generally speaking Is very sad, It’s a game with a unique strength for mobile—a functional cockpit—yet that potential is squandered on trivialities. This generation seems stuck on the A350, B787, A320neo, B777, and so on—and nothing else! They overlook the true magic of commercial aviation found in legendary aircraft like the B707, MD11, L1011, A340, B727, A300, DC-3, B767, DH106, VC-10, B757, DC-6, and dozens of others I haven't even mentioned.

The A350 is simply a very popular aircraft. Does me paying attention to details have anything to do with you not getting the aircraft you wanted?

No... I’m speaking in general terms, not about a specific aircraft I want—it doesn't really matter, since I’d find any aircraft cool, whether military (jets, cargo planes, bombers, electronic warfare) or executive. I’d be happy with any of them. My point is just that it’s a waste of skills to get stuck on something like the A320 or A350 family instead of enjoying general aviation.

Having a diverse variety of aircraft is one of the signs of the good development of a flight simulator.

Ehh I mean, some users (like myself) mainly care about the highly popular airliners that we all know, with an occasional unserious general aviation flight here and there. You may view it as a waste of skills, but others view it as their preferences. Just my thoughts.

This is probably my only comment in this thread though, as I've been peeping at it in my free time and know how it's gonna end again 😂

    yes, I see your point

  • Personally, I think there are already enough large airliners available. It would be great to fly a TBM 980 from my home base to Mallorca, or a PC-12 to St. Barts—just something small and fast with good avionics so I can fly off on vacation in an hour or two. I’d also really love to see a Cessna Caravan.

Oh yeah, I really think aircraft like that are cool too; I’d love to fly a PC-12, C208B, or G650ER. However, the problem with these planes—first of all—is the size of the potential audience; the interest is always lower than for commercial airliners, which is why you see simulators focusing more on commercial jets (and sometimes military ones). Another issue is the internal systems, like the G1000. Implementing that in Aerofly alongside the aircraft itself (like the C208B, since it uses the G1000) would likely take longer than the A350; building the Garmin 1000 from scratch would be a time-consuming task 🫤😔

How do other simulators do it, in your opinion?

Regarding the GA versions, MSFS represents about half of these fleets, including single-engine piston aircraft, which means roughly sixty. And I don't think it's a question of the size of the potential audience, but rather of the desire to do so.

Don't forget, at the beginning of Aerofly, there were no commercial aircraft present. ;)

"For better or for worse" ;)

  • The devs are not creating an A330, they have stated this multiple times.

The main thing holding back the A350-900 is the sheer number of aircraft repaints. The system modeling for the A350-900 is already in place; the entries are visible in the A350-1000 folder. There is also an A350-1000 ULR

Is this news true? Has the modeling for the A350-900 already been completed?

Hm on Apple I am not able to see this. Would you be so kind to sharing this?

  • Not much thought here but i believe the addition of more wide body airbus would be excellent.. However in this case I'd prefer both to be added but the 747-8 might be easier in terms of development as we already have the 747 400 ingame.. Plus talking about sounds we also have the existing genx sounds from the 787 9 and 787 10:):)

Do you want an Airbus or a Boeing? 😂

I hope for the 7478, but it's very unlikely to be added 😭

Ipacs sad multiple times that developing the 747-8 takes also as long as an new aircraft although we have the 747-400 ingame
