Here is a temporary fix:
Set your starting location on the catapult and load the simulation. The catapult doesn't work. Exit the simulation and open the location menu. Then click on the on the ocean (don't start the simulation) and then click on the catapult. If you now start the simulation, the catapult should work.

The catapult should launch only after you have set thrust to full power.

No, it doesn't work.
It only works if you do it like I described above.

Yeah, I know. In the past, the carrier's blast deflectors would lift up after entering the game, but now they don't work.

The catapult start in the FS 4 on the Mac only works as described above at the 2nd time position:
- At the first positioning on the launch position, the F18 is not anchored, but slowly rolls forward, and the reflectors remain below.
- Only at the second positioning (i.e. after the first positioning BACK and position again) is the F18 anchored and the reflectors go up
The start then works through two possibilities:
(1) Full thrust - and fly navy.
(2) Click on the launch icon - and also fly navy.

For mobile it also works exactly like this.

It can't be that more and more things aren't working anymore and nobody cares, at least that's my impression. It's not the only problem! 🤦
Just to be clear, the catapult works perfectly fine on my Android device. Unfortunately, some other things don't. But that's a different story.
However, it should also be possible to drive from the parking positions to the catapult and then use the catapult; unfortunately, it doesn't work. A real shame. This whole thing doesn't seem very well thought out to me. What's the point of the parking positions without the catapult function? I would have done it differently. Unfortunately, I'm not a developer.

My experience is that qualified error messages are accepted and repaired.

And what is a "qualified" error message?

The catapult should launch only after you have set thrust to full power.
The catapult only works when the corresponding icon appears on the right side. Then, if you tap the icon, the throttle will automatically be maximized and the catapult will be activated. Now the problem is that the icon does not appear on the first try.

Sorry, but I can't agree with that. I've reported enough bugs with detailed descriptions, and nothing has been fixed yet. Therefore, I won't be reporting anything else. My time is too valuable.
