What is a fun route to do?

  • Here is a low altitude (max 2000 ft AGL) VFR route between Békéscsaba (LHBC) and Budaörs (LHBS), flight time ~50 minutes. Budaörs only exists in the simulator on satellite images, but it is still easy to find.

I read in A. I. Pokryskin's book War Sky (published in our country at the time but later banned) that he thought of a low-altitude route following ground landmarks, which would allow flying even in poor visibility. (Pokryskin often had unusual ideas, which is probably why he managed to survive the war with his P-39 Airacobra.)

Well, this route is Pokriskin-like. From Békéscsaba to Öcsöd, it follows the old road 44, then continues in this direction to Tiszakécske. From Tiszakécske, a smaller road leads through Kocsér to Nagykőrös. From Nagykőrös, you have to fly at a bearing of 270 to Lajosmizse, reaching the old road 5. You have to fly on the old road 5 to Dabas. On the northwest side of Dabas, you have to continue over the Danube-Tisza canal to Dunaharaszti. At Dunaharaszti, the last section of the Danube-Tisza canal points straight towards Budaörs. This route, in addition to avoiding restricted airspace except Kecskemét , can also be flown in bad weather, guaranteed.
