Massive Navigation and Airport Database Update Now in Steam Beta

  • Always appreciate the hard work the IPACs team does with new updates and developments.

Out of curiosity, with this new airport database update, would It include new or updated airports such as OMAA, YSWS and YBSU.

I've recently done a flight planned for OMAA but noticed compared to Dubai or Doha, was just a satellite image and no 3D renderings of buildings etc?

The database updates airport information like names, locations, runway identifiers etc, not visible airport models or aerial images.

  • Why 2 weeks without a release to the IOS app or at least the beta.

The current Steam beta testing is still ongoing and we're currently doing another major code change which will need extensive and thorough testing again once the beta is updated. Only after that second round of beta testing is satisfactory can we think about moving it to the mobile version. So it will take a bit before the mobile version is getting this update, which is why we have not announced it as coming soon or anything like that so far. Thank you for your patience.

In my opinion, this changes would be better released in two different update.
The first one could include the new liveries, new engine option, improved sounds, and other aircraft enhancements such as the A380 electronic checklist, the 747 beacon light fix, and various bug fixes.
The second update could focus on the navigation and airport database update, along with taxiway signs. Releasing these features separately would allow for a more stable, polished, and bug-free experience.
Thank you to the developers for all the hard work you’ve put into this update and for continuing to improve such a fantastic flight simulator.

  • But what is your issue with the airways? On the A320 MCDU the airways clearly work as you can see in my screenshot from the sim.

Airways might exist in the aircraft's FMC/MCDU, as shown in the screenshot you sent me; however, I am referring to the airways on the simulator's global map. I want to know if they appear on the map so I can track the aircraft's flight path. If the airways are visible on your global map in the PC version of FS4, could you send a screenshot showing them on the map—specifically showing the aircraft flying along the airway displayed in the FMC, matching the route shown on SkyVector?

Thank you for the update 🙏

Why were my questions about the airways deleted? This is an important subject that is part of the topic. I understand removing comments about profits—which aren't part of the discussion but inevitably came up—but it is inappropriate for you to delete the points I raised regarding the airways I observed in screenshots of the PC beta version of FS4. The more you engage in this kind of censorship, the more irreparably you damage your reputation on the forum. This attitude only fuels my irritation with your hostile stance. I demand respect; I have invested hundreds of dollars in the simulator since 2020, and the reason I am still using it today is not because of you, but out of pure love for Aerofly FS.

Got you, not pushy. Usually when it’s posted it usually appears within 2-3 days hence why I assumed it would be out.

  • I really enjoy the last 60+ posts of this brilliant discussion. I believe to have this discussion more meaningful, each user should state their level of expertise along with their post. Here is a list of items you should provide:

    • [ ] I bought Aerofly FS for [Windows / MacOS / Linux / iOS / Android / Switch / all plattforms]
    • [ ] I represent [an important user group / the majority of the users]
    • [ ] I did not read [the initial post / any official posts by IPACS / anything at all] before posting
    • [ ] I like to reference a fact which I [have no source for / read somewhere and missed the part that this war speculative / I made up]
    • [ ] I have worked for [Boeing / Airbus / Embraer / SpaceX] as an [engineer / test pilot / rocket scientist / janitor] for [x] years
    • [ ] I have considerable experience as [a pilot / a co-pilot / a sim pilot / forum user] for [x] years, my expertise is based on detailed knowledge
    • [ ] I know quite a lot about [software development / QA / PR / PM / business stuff] with [x] years of experience, I have my numbers ready
    • [ ] I want to talk about [a livery request / an aircraft request / an airport request] (yet again)
    • [ ] My mother told me "You can make demands if you pay the rent", and now I am paying the rent!

    Here is an example:

    • [x] I represent an important user group

I hereby demand to not have public betas, nor to make announcements about upcoming features. Instead have a closed beta with a selected circle of QA users, bound by an NDA to keep silent about the content of the beta. Also I demand a separate section of the forum only accessible to QA users, and invisible to everyone else.

I am looking forward to more constructive comments following these guidelines 😉

  • Armitage Good idea - then I choose this:

    • [X ] I represent only myself.
    • [X] I bought Aerofly FS for MacOS, iOS and Switch.
    • [X] I have considerable experience as a sim pilot, a scenery- and aircraft developer and forum user for 8 years, my expertise is based on detailed knowledge

And regarding the beta itself, I can also imagine this:

    • It remains a public beta.
    • The blog Informs unequivocally, that there will be no information about the final update and therefore all speculations and questions about it are superfluous and will be deleted without comment.

    I have one more item:

    • [ ] Only my opinion exists / I'm the only user who can make requests / I'm the most important here
