• Hello, IPACS team.

First of all, I would like to say how much I admire your work. The level of care and dedication your team puts into developing and maintaining Aerofly is truly impressive. Thank you for all the effort you invest in making the simulator better with every update.

I'm writing this post to ask a few questions and hopefully receive some guidance that will help me continue developing my mods while maintaining a level of quality similar to the official content.

My first question is about the aircraft preview images. How do you create them, and how do you ensure that every aircraft is displayed with the exact same size, angle, and framing? I've been trying to achieve the same result for my liveries using AI tools, Photoshop, and several other methods, but I haven't been able to produce a result that matches the quality and consistency of the official previews. If you could share some advice about your workflow—or even explain how these previews are created—I would sincerely appreciate it.

My second question is about the simulator's reflection and lighting texture files. I've been experimenting with them in an attempt to simulate a more realistic metallic finish by adding subtle surface imperfections and other details that could make the aircraft look more visually appealing. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to understand how these files work or how they should be edited properly. If someone from the team could explain how this system works or point me in the right direction, I would be incredibly grateful.

If any other member of the community knows the answers to these questions, I would also greatly appreciate your help. My goal is to continue learning, improve the quality of my work, and contribute high-quality mods for the Aerofly community.

One of my biggest goals is to become part of the IPACS team someday. Until then, I plan to keep creating new liveries and modifications, sharing them with the community, and contributing ideas and suggestions to help the simulator continue to grow.

Once again, thank you for your outstanding work and for taking the time to read my post. ❤️🐇

  • The preview is generated automatically by the aircraft converter.

The DR400 aircraft has all the example textures included, there are also glossy metal surfaces on that aircraft. Copy the textures of that aircraft and adjust them to your needs. The naming of the textures is essential. The _color is the color channel, _reflection defines shininess.

Hello, Jan, I would like to add a few points to your answer. First of all, the final update of your converter is limited to November 8, 2023. I don't know if you know, but developers can't generate previews with these tools to create paints. The reason I mentioned before is that after last year's big update, the tmd and tmc files of the aircraft have changed, causing the converter to be unable to call to render the preview. In the end, we only get pure black texture.

Not long ago, I studied this converter myself and found the tmd code of the old version of the aircraft. I moved all the object names in the GeometryList of the new aircraft to the old version of tmd, and barely made a tmd file that could be recognized by the converter, so that the converter could be converted. Fortunately, it did successfully generate a preview, but I mainly said that your latest preview is slightly different from the preview generated by the old version of the converter. The size and angle direction of the aircraft are different, but fortunately, we don't have to piece together the preview by ourselves. The beauty is that because there is no setting, the object name is purely copied to the GeometryList, which causes the landing gear hatch in the preview drawing to be closed. I don't know if you have a plan to update the converter program. Of course, I hope it will not disturb your development plan.

    Have a good day

Okay, thank you so much for your help 🙏

  • Would you kindly send me to PM the preview of airbus livery for A380? I've got the livery but the preview is Air France, would you be that kind? Thanks for an answer, have a great day.

The converter needs the original png to render the preview. Do you have the original image texture?
