The Cessna mod is not updated together with Aerofly because it is not a part of the Aerofly FS 2 simulator. If forgot to include a file in my Cessna mod and I've uploaded the download on my webpage for this. This only affects my C172 mod.

Cessna 172 mod

As far as I know, I'm able to stop the engines of the C172 and do a complete start from a cold-and-dark status in the current version of AFS2, so what the C172mod is all about?.
Cheers, Ed

In my opinion it has a significantly more accurate flight model.
Of course this is coming from someone who only flew Pipers lol.

Jan, thanks for remembering your website to me. Had downloaded you mods time ago and did not know this had this update. Now flying a bit over Monterey on a sunny day.

Ok, I managed to upload the mod with the controls.tmd file to my webpage. We will update it in the forums shortly.
I just spent a couple of hours with the mod and everything is working great.
My 10 year niece is having a ball with it as well. She's visiting for a few days and wanted to try uncle's flight simulator, so I put her over Manhattan in the Cessna. After a few minutes, she was buzzing skyscrapers, flying under bridges and doing loops and rolls over Central Park, lol.
She kept repeating how much fun she was having. I think IPACS has another fan and potential customer.
On another note, it's interesting to see how much drag the open doors and windows produce! I tried to stay airborne with them open, but just couldn't.

Thank you for your dedicated "updates to updates"!
I bogged up the previous one, and was now able to restore the c172mod.
Amazing how an opening window can add so much to an aircraft...

The Captian Sim 737-200 has opening windows. I didn't use them in flight, too much trouble.

Did I update this mod yet?
Anyone having issues at the moment? I can't even remember
I just tested my version and it worked ok, so I could upload this if its needed. Just let me know.

I cannot open the door now, I'm trapped inside!. Please check/update.

Ditto, the mod acts just like the default aircraft, but none of the special features, windows, doors, etc. function.

In my opinion the mod has always had a better flight model. Maybe it's a placebo effect, but that's how it feels to me.
I would LOVE an update please.

Alright, I've send the updated file to the forum upload, may take a few hours until Jeff wakes up over there in his time zone
For the eager ones, here is the updated mod download from my personal webpage: https://www.aerofly-sim.de/dow…oflyfs2/af2_c172_download (same link as always)
I tested the doors, they work as before - I have not yet had the time to make the door knobs and window clickspots move with the door, so they are still extremely huge and not ideal for VR at this point. I have this in mind but other things have priority right now.

This is not a placebo, I've changed the airfoils, the drag of the fuselage, propeller airfoil, etc.

The latest version is up now; and so am I

Hi, I've just copied the 6 files included in the zip and replaced the existing ones in the already present C172-mod folder. Is that the correct procedure for installing this patch?.
Just to check.
Cheers, Ed

I think its better to copy all contents of the default c172 over to this mod folder, I think there are a number of new sound files which you need.
Then delete the old c172mod.tmb first, then rename the copied c172.tmb to c172mod.tmb to update the 3d model.
Full instructions are on the download page I think, here in the forum as well as my personal webpage.

Hello again,
I've just merged the huge number of changes made to the default Cessna 172 into the modded Cessna 172...
The feature list of this mod is actually getting smaller now, especially now that the default C172 also features engine shut down and restart, opening doors and even yoke hide. So my modded version of the Cessna is getting more and more obsolete, but I still like it's flight characteristics more than those of the default Cessna. That's why I updated it once again.
Here is the download link for the people that want to download it from my personal website, I hope the update to the mod will be available here in the forum's download section shortly.

Main change from this version compared to the last modded version is that the aircraft is loaded in cold and dark configuration if you place it on the parking position. When you set it on the runway, on final approach or in the air it should still be running and everything should be on.
Have fun!
And if there are any real world Cessna pilots who are using this mod, please tell me if I should change some of the characteristics.

Yesterday I was practicing 180° power off landings on a C172sp. In my opinion the L/D ratio on the default C172 is way too low, it drops like a brick
I'll check your mod!
