Aerofly FS2 "Steals" my joystick from FSX

  • Here is the sequence of events:

    1 - Boot into Windows 10

2 - Start FSX Steam Edition Free Flight. Microsoft Sidewinder 2 Force Feedback USB-connected joystick is working OK.

3 - End flight. Close FSX.

4 - Start AFS2. Fly. Joystick is working OK.

    5 - Close AFS2.

6 - Start FSX Free Flight. Joystick no worky. In Controls Settings it says "Your Joystick has been disconnected".

7 - Rinse and repeat. I have to reboot the PC in order to re-connect the joystick to FSX!

Has anybody else seen this behaviour? Is it a known bug?

  • It did happen to me too when I had both installed. Now I don't...

    Never found the culprit ...

    Main Simulation Rig:

    Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, 1 TB & 500 GB M.2 nvme drives, Win11.

Lenovo TB310FU 9,5" Tablet for Navigraph and some available external FMCs or AVITABs

  • I just had the same phenomenon yesterday, but switching from AFS2 to AFS1.
I didn't try launching P3D or FSX, but I assume it would have been the same: it was like my USB controls were just unplugged.

After PC reboot everything was fine again...

  • Does it help if you unplug and then reconnect the device? Maybe the driver software crashed but that could be restarted that way I think...?

    Dear Jan,

Just tried it out again today, but this isn't even a workaround. Unplugging and replugging my yoke and pedals doesn't reactivate them, I had to reboot...

Thanks and have a good week-end
