Process successful but no images?

  • Hi guys,

I'm rendering a small area and the process finishes successfully, but for some reason the images are not generated. I'm a bit suspicious about how GeoConvert converted the TFW files to AIC, more particurarly the "steps_per_pixel" values:

    Original TFW file:

    0.0000342452

    0.0000000000

    0.0000000000

    -0.0000342326

    169.7285254496

    -45.6648687428

    AIC file generated:

    <[file][][]

    <[tm_aerial_image_definition][][]

    <[string8][image][92M3K-92L78.tif]>

    <[string8][mask][]>

    <[vector2_float64][steps_per_pixel][3.42452e-05 -3.42326e-05]>

    <[vector2_float64][top_left][169.7285254496 -45.6648687428]>

    <[string8][coordinate_system][lonlat]>

    <[bool][flip_vertical][false]>

    >

    >

...and for reference, here's my simple TMC file:

    <[file][][]

    <[tmcolormap_regions][][]

    <[bool] [write_ttc_files][true]>

    <[string8][folder_destination_ttc][./scenery/images/]>

    <[bool] [always_overwrite][true]>

    <[list][region_list][]

    <[tmcolormap_region][element][0]

    <[uint32] [level] [9]>

    <[vector2_float64] [lonlat_min] [-45.56 169.76]>

    <[vector2_float64] [lonlat_max] [-45.91 170.74]>

    >

    <[tmcolormap_region][element][0]

    <[uint32] [level] [11]>

    <[vector2_float64] [lonlat_min] [-45.56 169.76]>

    <[vector2_float64] [lonlat_max] [-45.91 170.74]>

...and here is the log for the conversion:

    Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!

  • Dan,

Everytime I come up with no images it seems I did not reboot the pc before running GeoConverter.

Try a pc reboot, make sure nothing else is running and rerun your area. The whiz kids are all asleep right now so they can check your log tomorrow.

    Regards,

    Ray

  • Hi gojozoom,

your tfw and AIC point to New Zealand, is this correct?

    Longitude 169 E, Latitude 45 S.

If yes, your TMC is incorrect. You have the same order here, lon_lat:

    <[vector2_float64] [lonlat_min] [169.76 -45.56]>

    <[vector2_float64] [lonlat_max] [170.74 -45.91]>

Well, I had many cases when Geoconvert runs through the process, but with no images in the end.

Of course, any mistake will cause GeoConvert tool to produce nothing.

Your TMC coordinate look wrong, make sure you set up NW corner for LONLAT min and SE corner for LONLATmax.

I also experienced a few times a bug making GeoConvert to simply skip images based on their name.

It's easy to reproduce - I could do it on 2 different machines with the same file name.

One quick test you may try is renaming your files by replacing the "-" with an "X" and check if it keeps on skipping your image (rename both the picture and the AIC file, and also inside the AIC file).

Another debugging trick I use is I keep the following in the TMC file, just before the "write_ttc_files" entry :

    <[bool] [write_raw_files][true]>

    <[string8][folder_destination_raw][./scenery/images_raw/]>

Please make sure you have a "images_raw" folder in your scenery folder (just below the "images" folder. Create one if necessary)

This enables keeping your processed images before conversion.

It will show you if the images were totally skipped or it's the compilation that failed.

    Good luck

    Antoine
