I also think that it is not IPAC's assignment, I understood from a legal point they have to be not involved but if I made something with e.g. Virtual earth and I publish it at AVSIM, would I be in trouble?

Curious what the simulated weight is of the Q400? I can do a rough estimate of the operational empty weight and can see the fuel in the tanks, but have no idea how much weight we have in simulated pax and cargo?
Would like to use reasonable takeoff weight estimate in order to use most realistic take-off and landing speeds.
Thanks!

Btw, the combination Aerofly FS2/Dash8 Q400 is simply brilliant!
Very impressive!
Haven't enjoyed any sim that much since years! (Already deleted x-plane 11 and P3D!!!!)
Glad to hear this
It will only get better from here.

Thanks bbrz. Curious where did you find the gross weight?
Cheers!

Yes, I calculated it.
It is gross weight is 244597.469 Newtons (since you wanted to know the weight not the mass)
Current mass of the Q400 is 24942 kg or 54987.69 lbs.
The V-Speeds I used and implemented are interpolated between 24t and 26t, being close to 26t actually and I might reduce them yet.

jan,
Is this correct? Is the MTOW pounds correct? Sounds a bit light to me? Ha.

Woops, did that the wrong way. 24942kg or 54987.69 lbs actual takeoff mass, not maximum

55,000 lbs current weight take-off and landing weight. Thank you!
My TOL card for 55,000 lbs are within a knot of your V speeds. Close enough for my simulated flights.

Is it real, or is it Memorex?

In ancient days when we used media call cassette tapes, Memorex produced cassette tapes. One of their ad campaigns highlighted the fidelity of the tapes by comparing real sounds with recorded sounds. My favorite was the classic of the female opera singer shattering a glass using her voice and the recorded Memorex tape performing the same feat. The meaning is that the simulation is so realistic that you can't tell the difference from the real item. Thus the Q400 is so realistic it can't be differentiated from the real Q400.

Hi Cirrrus64,
thanks for your explanation, sometimes we non native english speakers don't get it exactly. Thumbs up!

When can we expect to have the Q400 on iOS versions?

Sorry, we don't know yet. It might be required to create a whole new version to release all the new airplanes as they require some breaking changes.
The extra functionality we have added in the past month requires us to rework some major GUI controls, otherwise these airplanes are not controllable.
Also all the new autopilot features on the Q400 and A320 require a simpler co pilot backend which is fairly complex.
We could make live easier for us if we do this in a whole new version, but like I said, we are not clear about this yet.

Okay.
So no update in 2017 for the iOS version? We don't have any anwsers on the other part of the forum....
We were expecting since a long time the Q400 and maybe a 777 but it will be a new deception.
