My take, is that the demand for this will be so high in the current enthusiast community that if Aerofly doesn't do it, somebody with the sdk almost certainly will. Probably a variation of OSM2Xplane, World2Xplane, etc.
For myself, its only a moderate issue, but I know for many this will be really important.
I think probably the biggest hurdle some current simulator users are having with Aerofly is the lack of auto-gen. I know it was considered and apparently rejected because of "lack of data" in the US but this might be a case of "Some is better than none." and in any case, there should be good data for Switzerland, right? At least to show whats possible.
Even years ago, good results were within reach, and I think surely Ipacs could provide better textures than in the video below. Your texture artists and modelers seem extremely talented!
Not a demand, I'm one of the patient ones, but it is a thought.

Because starting on a runway doesn't push the system and starting over new york, how can I tell I'm in the exact same spot for valid comparison. It's not a priority request, I was just trying to help someone out, and then somebody else expressed an interest and I thought I would ask.
I'm surprised it would be so hard. In Outerra, for instance, all you have to do is take a picture. Another Outerra user clicking on that picture is instantly transported to the same location/height/heading. (assuming the data has not been stripped by a picture host)
I think you are misunderstanding. What we want to do is easily share situations so that we appear at the exact same world coordinates, then test using the same and varying graphics settings.
Some are having some framerate issues (when compared to others) and being able to share exact situations and compare results on different machines might be informative as to what the issues might be.
For instance, a user with a computer equivalent to mine (actually slightly higher spec) is receiving less than a third of my fps within the rift (Hes getting 27fps!) but slightly higher in 2d
Yeah, this is a definite Steam thing. I never had that issue because all my Aerofly downloads were only a few hours, and I just went to bed or did other things.
PLEASE make a beginners guide as soon as possible, because many people out here are struggling to figure out how Aerofly handles things, and in some videos you can see people getting a bit frustrated and making mistakes and learning by trial and error.
Not a good State of affairs.
Even just a walk through of a typical flight using the available systems in one of the big jets would help a lot.
As it is, its much too hard to even find the user manual!
I find that the current Aerofly shadow solution sucks massive frames, so I tend to turn them off. As I mentioned in another thread, ideally it would be great if there was setting with full Hi-rez shadows on the plane and aircraft shadows on the ground, while all other shadows are disabled.
Over New York, the difference can literally be 100fps or more!
So on my machine, I'm running with the lowest possible shadow settings. Unfortunately this creates a huge artifact in the ground that follows the plane ominously, that I've named the Borg Cube Of Death.
