You have my interest here, but does it include the soundfiles for the sounds you describe? If not where do they come from?

Here's an example of what you get. Its the first few lines of the OS grid square "SD" which is a 100km x 100km square in the north west of england.
ncols 200
nrows 200
xllcorner 300000
yllcorner 910000
cellsize 50
262.6 262.4 260.8 257.1 249 238.9 222.1 209.9 199.2 191.8 184.5 180.9 177.8 178.1 180 182.9 188.1 198 207.6 214.7 228.2 237.3 245.2 251.3 255.8 260.3 262.1 260.2 257.1 252.1 244.9 238.3 230.9 225.3 217.6 209.6 210.3 205.7 201.7 199.7 193.2 176.1 172 196.8 218.5 233 243.8 252.9 262 269.5 274.9 278.9 281.5 284.3 286.4 286.2
The download also comes with projection data holding the co-ordinates of the grid square and the projection mode allowing that to be converted to GPS.
...so not entirely straightforward

I like the sound of that too

Great news. I can get UK data to this spec "Post spacing of 50m (DTM grid); Vertical interval of 10m (Contours)" from
https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/business-and-g…terrain-50.html
What file format does geoconvert need? These are the options

ScenProc manual section 6 says...
Sometimes you want to create autogen for an area that is not covered by good
vector data. So for example the vector data shows hardly no vegetation, while
in your photo scenery you can obviously see the vegetation. How to tackle this
problem?
The feature detection function of scenProc is designed for that. With this
feature you can create your own vector data, derived from the imagery you use
for your photo scenery. This vector data can then be used later on to create
your autogen like usual.
Does anyone have experience of this?

I'm testing this line to resolve the building overlap
FilterFeatures|FEATCODE="15014"|FEATCODE>="15018"|DISTANCE_CENTER|1
It is taking ages though. Arno's advice is to run it after SplitGrid but I'm not running a SplitGrid. Rodeo - in your example that started me off you commented out that line. Why was that? I've never properly understood SplitGrid.
- # Split the features into a grid of 0.25 x 0.25 degrees
- # Do not split buildings, but filter them into the right grid cells
- # I need to ask Rodeo why he commented this out
- # SplitGrid|0.25|*|FEATCODE="15014"

I'm able to to remove/add and pretty much do what I want with the OSM files in JOSM. I just need to ensure I save local and not upload the changes.
Have you tried the to use JOSM?
I did first, but sadly the data is rubbish for the UK. OS Data has total coverage. I think we're nearly there though with dedupes.

Did you super modellers know that AC3D can be scripted? I'm quite fond of coding but find modelling a bit tedious - I'd rather spent 10x longer writing a program to do a job than it would take to do it manually (in the feint hope I might need to redo it slightly differently one day), so I was very excited to discover https://www.tcl.tk/
You can easily add menu commands to AC3D that will do multiple scripted actions in one go. Here's a simple one for adding a "select all" command to the Tools menu
To make this work I first downloaded and installed TCL from https://www.activestate.com/activetcl/downloads then I put the above code in a file called test.tcl inside the script folder in the AC3D program folderExample scripts and help are found here: http://www.inivis.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=40
However there aren't many, so you're likely to need to write your own if you're interested.
I finally managed to get a list of all the commands AC3D has available - file attached
Rodeo knows the secret project I'm working on that will make this scripting very useful...

If anyone gets a chance to poke around the OS Data in QGIS in the next few days, is there anything in there that denotes areas/landuse that buildings sit within that could be used to indicate that a building is in a city or more rural. If so I've found scenproc commands that could add tags based on this and use them to modify the styling of buildings.
-
I'm doing a lot better at this since i turned off those 16 knots of crosswind. The tunnel doesn't seem to shield wind.
-
This TSC file is about right. Put it with the air race files and you can have a slightly bumpy take off about 1/2 a mile short of the starting gate.
-
I'm not sure that would be so easy with the way OS Data is provided, but all being well this dedupe will soon be automatic.
Why not remove the buildings you don't want in JOSM before running Scenproc?
-
Hold the front page...
Arno has pointed me in the direction of this new feature and will put some sample code together.
-
Regarding duplication of buildings in importantbuildings, i've checked in Qgis and that is definitely the issue, but i don't think Scenproc can help. I found this thread:
http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/…eatures.430766/
For now then we have 2 options:
- Don't load important buildings, just buildings. We lose the church designation and any other special treatment, which at the moment isn't much anyway other than height
- Do the exclusion in Qgis. Right now i don't know how that is done
-
Now I understand the questions about spawning. I'd never heard the term before. I'm spending an awful lot of time flying to the starting gate.
-
hope ...hope ... when when i want to switch gear or flaps ...and after this , with both handy on yoke PLEASE
Absolutely - me too, but as they say "Rome wasn't built in a day", and I think Aerofly FS2 is worthy of such an auspicious classical reference.
-
I use the Move forward (up)/back(down)/left/right/up(Pageup)/down(PageDown) commands found in the Settings->Controls->View tab. I use the POV hat for four of those. For some aircraft I want to move close to the instrument panel and others, move away from it.
Same here. I find I'm always a touch to the right and a bit low down in the C172 for example. It would be nice to able to store saved defaults.

What aerial/satellite imagery are you using for Walney Island Phil?
i've been using virtual earth with FSET.
-
Hi Phil
Now bear with me here as I can build full size sims no problem but my programming knowldge would easily fit on a pin head, the sharp end.
Could we not adjust a line similar to
ReplacePolygonByBuildingRectangles|FEATCODE>=15014 and FEATCODE<=15028 and FAREARAT<=0.7 and FLENGTH>=10 and FWIDTH>=20|0.8;4;4|0.25;2.0;0.25|Integer;SPLITBUILD|1
or
AddAttribute|FEATCODE=15014 And FAREARAT>0.7 And FLENGTH < 10|Integer;BUILDTYPE|1
to give us a.. if else then type statement. Sort of, if this FEATCODE exists then don't add that FEATCODE as well
Like I say, may be a load of old coblers but best I can think of
Oh yeah, happy new year to the UK gang and everyone else
Steve
Possibly Steve. But I think the code runs these lines for every building object it finds, rather than every geo location, so when it comes to the special building it doesn't know its already processed a normal one in the same place - and what if the special and normal don't exactly overlap? I suspect that after I've inspected the data I'll need to ask Arno for help.
-
Okay, I have realised the error in my logic in my previous post. The problem is that there are two objects in the same location one with one build type one with another. I will look more closely at the data and see if there is some identifier that will help me link the two objects and exclude one.
