Heyo,
I just update the cold and dark mod since IPACS changed the initialization parameters a bit.
I also change the installation process for the mod. This way you can keep the default Cessna, too.
Link (and functionality) is still the same: https://www.aerofly-sim.de/download/downl…2_c172_downloadRegards,
JanVery happy !

I'm using a Saitek yoke and getting frustrated by the detent and stickiness, despite having modded the hell out of it, replacing the springs, putting in a new leo bodnar 12bit card. I've been looking at a lot of yokes, but they are all very pricey. Compared to the driving wheels available flight sim gets a raw deal. The only other promising option is the honeycomb aeronautical, reviewed by pcflight https://pcflight.net/ces-2017-brand…stem-announced/
Not out yet though.
For rudder i like the look of the MFG Crosswind which seems sensibly priced

Success !!
This is what I now have if I look across to the co-pilot's seat (simulated as I couldn't get screen capture to grab both layers)
The way I did it is this:
1. Launch OpenVR desktop as above
2. Open Chrome and disable hardware acceleration in settings
3. I'm using Google Docs to write notes, and I then View in Presentation mode to hide all browser bars etc
4. Set up the openvr desktop with the settings as shown below.
a) World setting
b) Display the Chrome window called "Flight Planning Slides"
c) Some frame crop (500,-500) to hide the black borders from Chrome presentation mode.
d) The bottom left settings position the window to my right (saved as a config called "co-pilot")
e) I reduce refresh to 1fps to minimise load -
Any chance of a screenshot showing the vr desktop portal settings you are using? I've been playing around for ages, but can't relocate the portal onto the passenger seat as I'd like. Also I keep getting the screen blanking/greying out and FS2 didn't exit properly just now, needing a PC reboot - I'm using Rift in steam mode.
As for good ways of interacting with the portal, rather than Alt-Tab my suggestion is voice with voicebot mappings

The reason is to get an in-game overlay using V.
See original thrad on Steam http://steamcommunity.com/app/434030/dis…56080235275833/ -
Perfect. Nailed it.

Great thanks. I suspected it was deliberate.

This may be my inexperience but on the ground if I view the plane from behind and apply rudder, it is not proportional. It seems to apply and then bounce back. It seems to do it in a deliberate way. Is this some special kind of rudder action?

I think the answer is a real ipad, with screen dual outputted to the pc and then shown on a virtual cockpit in vr. You write on the pad for real and see the output in vr

Any ideas how to fix the nav on the DR400? I can tune it fine, but when I switch it to the active it just resets.

+100 I have brought this up on the steam forum a few times. It would make a real difference as I can only hold so many VOR frequencies and radials in my head at one time. And then I forget the elevation for landing. I am very reluctant to take the headset off midflight.
-
My rather elaborate idea was that you could have a real iPad fixed in place near yoke etc and the iPad would dual display its screen to the PC which would be displayed on a virtual iPad n the cockpit. Then you could use the iPad in VR and have physical contact with a real iPad. I guess that needs leap motion to see your hands, so a static notepad displayed in cockpit is probably the way to start.

In the cessna, i click the left hand clock button to switch to local time, then map a button to change time in game

I experimented with tweaking cameras a few days ago but got random results. An explanation of the vector values of R0 and direction would be very useful.

I suppose even a bit of rattle/vibe adds to the aliveness of the machinery. Are you hooked up to the bass frequencies via sound output or are you taking physics output using something like SimVibe?
-
Its next on my list. I'm hopeful it will add another level of realism in VR. What sort of vibes does it provide? Engine rumble, tyres on tarmac, landing bump?
-
Combine it with Alexa style AI and i think amazing things are round the corner. Even without AI the virtual co-pilot could be a real flying instructor.
-
I would love one of these - please share info on how to build it and how to obtain the parts without a 3d printer...unless you'd like to sell a kit of the extra bits we need.

I hope you were a gentleman
