BTW I changed Pamela for the other girl (I don't remember her name, but there are only 2 girls) and she's funnier (I didn't check the latest update though).
Cheers
Antoine
Sheesh Antoine, I can see why Pam was giving you the icy stare...

It would be nice to be able to have a PDF reader window open in the cockpit. Flyinside allows this and it is handy.

Thought it might be helpful to include a link to the introduction to the flight deck.
https://www.aerofly.com/aerofly_fs_2/d…400_flight_deck
Thank you Jan!
And thank you antonvs for the correction. Since you have the correct tutorial link, I'll change mine to the flight deck info!

Or
When do I start down?
Multiply your altitude to lose x 3.
ie if you are at 25,000' take 25 x3=75. Start descent 75nm back.
What descent rate do I need?
Take your ground speed divide by 2 and multiply by 10.
If your g/s is 400 kts / 2= 200 x10 = 2000 fpm.

Very nice and detailed write up!

55,000 lbs current weight take-off and landing weight. Thank you!
My TOL card for 55,000 lbs are within a knot of your V speeds. Close enough for my simulated flights.
Cheers,
-
Thanks bbrz. Curious where did you find the gross weight?
Cheers!

Curious what the simulated weight is of the Q400? I can do a rough estimate of the operational empty weight and can see the fuel in the tanks, but have no idea how much weight we have in simulated pax and cargo?
Would like to use reasonable takeoff weight estimate in order to use most realistic take-off and landing speeds.
Thanks!

We change it so that you can assign a key for speedbrake extension and retraction.
And I can confirm: the speedbrakes in the F18 do not work for me either, I'll look into it.
I have my speedbrakes mapped to slider and they are working fine. So hope that helps.

The Q is a beast power wise. Great climb rate and if you are light it really goes uphill nice. Single engine you have to watch your speed to avoid overspeeding it. Landing gear is typical Dash-8... you can get good landings but you should really practice by running a shopping cart (with wobbly wheels) off a 5' ramp.

Just want to say very nice job on the Q400! It is great! Using the Rift, I was fiddling with the engine control panel and went with my left hand to grab the glareshield. Very good immersion! Luv'in it!
Nice attention to details. MTOP, NTOP and the bleeds. The seat track in the floor. The power lever detents are nicely done also. The flight model is nice, although it takes too much power to taxi. Normally you taxi in Discing in order to keep the speed under control. Lots to explore with this one! and ENGINE STARTS!
Two thumbs up from me!
ussiowa, I just tried and the airbrakes are working for me...

Sweet! Downloading now.
Thank you!

From Jeff's update thread:
"* Last but not least the Dash 8 Q400 will be added to the Aerofly FS2 aircraft library. This new aircraft is a free upgrade and will be added as a DLC separate from the core update. The Q400 has been anticipated for quite some time now and the wait is over! This aircraft has much greater functionality over any previous aircraft and is truly a AAA quality aircraft that users will quickly deem as the best yet. Look for a detailed report directly from Jan (lead aircraft setter upper) on all of the new systems and functionality shortly after its debut."

Completely agree with Ben. The Majestic Q400 is very nicely done. I just wish it existed in the AFFS2 world.

You're right, with the heads up guidance (HGS) it could manually be landed in CATIII conditions.
The HGS is certainly something we are considering to add to the Q400, I don't know the latest plans for that though.
Regards,
Jan
Hi Jan,
I would happily pay extra for an upgraded version of the Q400 with an accurate HGS. What a thing of beauty that would be! If you were asking (and I know you are not), my vote would be yes, please plan for an HGS upgrade to the Q
-
Stunning pics. The level of detail is fantastic. Listed system functionality looks great!
As far as releasing with or without engine starts... I would vote for early release with engine starts added later. A normal start of engines on the Q is quite boring due to FADEC. Select the engine, hit start, NH, condition lever start/feather and then you just sit there and let it happen.
BTW the Q can do CATIII's but you need an installed HGS. No autopilot required or used during the CATIII. Hand flown.
Can't wait to get my hands on this beauty in AFFS2! Looks awesome!

Whoa! Thank you. I completely missed that update. (and I've been watching) Thank you JP!

Bump. Cough, cough...
