Melbourne checking in. I've found that the local Steam CDN's are really slow, and I always switch to Indonesia or Singapore in the steam client when I download. I've got NBN, and the difference is x10. Might be worth trying...

Has it been added to the steam version yet?

Any chance of showing some screen shots of Aspen, Eagle County or Telluride? Thanks.
Dave
OOo. We can do the Telluride Landing mission from FSX, that was always a good one!

I think the ILS 31 (L?) in Palm Springs is one of the few ILSes that don't quite work correctly yet.
We are aware of it but haven't found the cause of this issue yet, we'll continue searching though.
Thanks,
at least it made me look into how to tune the ILS manually in the Q400. Is there a list (NOTAM :P) somewhere with known airports with this issues?

Hi
I tried to fly in twice from Phonix last night using the 31L at PSP in the Q400 using a flight plan. First time I had the ARCDU set to FMS, and I did not pick up ILS (109.3) and it indicated that ILS1 was set to 108.5. Second time i switched it to manual and turned it myself, but it still just showed red cross over the ILS on the PFD.
I'm pretty new to this, but I managed to follow the tutorial from San Diego to SFO, and that worked fine. Can someone tell me if the ILS at 31 PSP is OK?

You mean z and shift+z ?
Sorry, this is for VR, don't think the zoom works? Anyway, I was hoping for a present distance so if you needed to take a quick close look at instruments you could just assign a button on the yoke. If you ever have tried Flyinside, you can see the zoom function there.
-
Gee.. and I was hoping for a simple button to zoom a prefixed amount
-
I would love to see the zoom function from flyinside being copied. One button enable/disable zoom with either set or adjustable distance.
So handy when you need to do a quick glance on the instruments, and don't need to lean in. One of my worst first world problems...
-
Complains about the lack of buttons to push, but did not review/mention the Q400? It's not like every model in FSX you can flick everything either...

I have found the automation in the A320 more beginner friendly. I'm pretty beginner myself...

Avare works well on Android:
Wonder if you could run this in an emulator on the pc to avoid having a separate device.

Have you looked at setting up foreflight? https://www.aerofly.com/aerofly_fs_2/d…l:miscellaneous
-
Ooo... I hadn't seen that one.. I might have to send my kids to grandma for a week to get my head around it. I appreciate the effort though, looks very thorough!

Anyone who are able to do a quick write up of a tutorial flight similar to the A320 thread? I really want to, but short of time atm.

@ others
You have to use Win 10 powershell - maybe a little out-of-the-ordinary for some of us.
It runs fine in my Win8 install (PSv3), and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work in Win7 as it is just using base cmdlets that should be v2 compliant.
Tnx. I run win 7. Is that a problem?
Try to create a bat file with Dave's command in it (Thanks Dave!) in the same folder:
You could run a BAT file with the contents:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy ByPass -File afs2configmanager.ps1Please note that during development, at times, updates may change the main.mcf file. Please proceed with caution to use any 3rd party application that modifies, backs up, or copies this file for later use.
Good point Jeff. I might add a check if there is a version control number in the file to prevent it from restoring it.
Again, this was a quick workaround, but use with care, and please back up your main.mcf, especially after upgrading to a new version.

Alright,
I wrote a small PowerShell script that I think will fill the gap, it ain't pretty, but does the job.
1) Download the file afs2configmanager.ps1.txt
2) Rename the file to just .ps1 on the end
3) Right click and select "run with Powershell"
4) You may have to hit Y to allow execution
...
6) Profit!
It should be fairly self explanatory, but let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for enhancements. The only thing I might add is to fire it up in VR mode directly. NOTE: Be very careful with scripts you download from the internet, and always back up!

I've just edited the sample one according to the tutorial.

You use the tmc file as the argument for the geoconvert.exe command, either in the bat file or just manually in the cmd.

Guys, thought it perhaps be fun to share some screenshot from our newly unlocked abillity. While I've been flightsimming for a loooooong time, this is the first time I've tried to generate my own scenery. Here's a shot of my very first try: Heading towards Essendon(YMEN)/Melbourne/Australia from the south east. Source Google. Zoom level potato! This will be fun!
