I will try to talk my wife of 50 years to let me consider buying a new computer,

Same experience here.
If you want to enjoy the helicopters on Aerofly you need to buy helicopter controls otherwise you lose 90% of the fun of this software.
Do you have a recommendation?
It will probably work great with AFS2 if you have a GTX2080 or better.

I have a MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.
Then I hope that my card will work just fine ("Plug and Play").
That's 7.3M pixels that your 2080 will have to push which is 2 WQHD monitors side-by-side (2550x1440). Aerofly will probably still run smooth but you might encounter low frame rates with Car Racing sims and MSFS.
Like I said, I've never tried VR. Now I'm considering buying the new HP Reverb G2 VR.

It says, quote:

Will this also be too many pixels - or will it work great with AFS2?
Maybe you can find something here:
Just get a second hand WMR or Rift headset for a few hundred bucks to give it a try!
I researched the Oculus Rift and discover, quote: "The Oculus community hates Facebook's login policy switch". As I said - what holds me back is the fear of nausea.
I do not have Facebook - nor do I want it.
Especially for flightsimulators VR is so much better....
I have not yet tried VR - but it is on my wish list. What holds me back is the fear of nausea. For example, I can not play such first person shooter games.
Nausea is not fun.
So what can be done to avoid nausea? Avoid VR?
