Thanks for the heads-up!
Looking at the later discussion in that thread, heartening to see the number of comments relating to a "Yes" for AFS2.
You do get the feeling a lot of simmers see this as the sim of the future.

Interesting... it's about the same size as the freeware NL2000 was.
That one was also pretty flat
One assumes that in time it will be populated with all the various airports.
Thank you for your dedicated "updates to updates"!
I bogged up the previous one, and was now able to restore the c172mod.
Amazing how an opening window can add so much to an aircraft...
Well it finally turned up on Steam!
Thank you to all you early adopters who helped debug the original ORBX release
Seriously though... great work by the IPACS team to bring the sim to this point, and work with developers to expand the experience.
May 2018 bring even more success!
You might not think that way when the 40% discount if you have another version of scenery for another sim comes into effect. I do not know if that will be available in Steam. I do know the discount will be there in FTX Central.
For those of us emerging from the last True Sim (=MSFS2004 ) there is no ORBX.
AFS2 is a rebirth of sorts, and the first Steam experience too!
I am totally enamoured of the Plug 'n Play experience.
23 December for the steam version.
Thanks I thought my interwebs was broken!
I would not wait for the Steam version...
...and the weekend suits me fine.
I do prefer Steaming, it is soo 21st Century.
Erm, a week has gone by, and I still don't see this on Steam.
Is it just me?
Have we mentioned a helicopter would be nice.
Ah yes, I believe we have...
Actually I've changed my mind.
If we are going to wait forever for it to appear, let's go the whole hog and ask for one that does the whole shebang:
IFR capable, cross-country range, 3-axis autopilot, precision hover... you get the idea.
Yes, head position tracking is also possible with the new Tobii Eye Tracker 4C so you can move your head towards the instrument panel and of course left/right.
Excellent!
Sounds like a TrackIR without the goofy headset paraphernalia!
Presumably, like TrackIR, you can look at a gauge, say, and then disable head tracking with a hotkey while you fiddle with the knobs?
... neither Aerosoft nor Simmarket (which is selling the sim as a download) have clarified exactly how updates and additional scenery are to be applied.
Can't imagine why anyone would prefer to subject themselves to the likes of SimMarket when the Steam download and update process is so completely without pain?
Sorry to ask, if this has been discussed already:
Does this allow you to lean in and so zoom the instrument panel?
Beautiful! Coincidentally I had the Baron out over Colorado today, first chance I've had to take a look.
Just superb, and so much of it!
Here's a couple few:

Not often I take a screen in a flightsim, ignoring the aircraft... I mean, just look at it

+2.... all that lovely scenery is wasted if you can't look at it.
A helicopter is how you look at it
What a wonderful surprise!
As something of a "casual" user, I was wondering if there is an updated list of "improved" airports for AFS2's various sceneries?
I sort of stumble on them and am always delighted.
MOST impressive!
I have a number of airports that need just that approach...
Digressing, I love doing Real vs Sim shots.
This one was done in reverse i.e. the screenshot was taken first, then I tried to remember where to take the photo from!
It's on the Lucerne lakefront.

Here's an interesting damage effect I imagine one wouldn't see every day!
Still, it's very difficult to bend it badly enough to reset the sim...

Jeff has it absolutely right...
There is value in seeing what the marketplace offers in comparison, but only in respect of this sim.
This translates to what we want here.
There are things from FS2004 I'd like to have in AFS2, notably more freedom in creating views.
But no-one wants to hear me on the topic of how FS9 beats FSX in so many ways
If Chrome is your browser, you are lucky enough to be able to double-click the word to highlight it, right-click, and choose "Google xxx".
(I also didn't know what it is)
Interesting lawsuit underway because like "hoovering", "googling" has become lower-case generic.
Google understandably wants to hang onto its trademark.
Next up: an app that plugs in any previously created content of whatever persuasion... into Google Earth!
Yes I have look ahead, together with brakes(!) mapped to the joystick trigger.
In the air, it makes no difference, on the ground, it's just a swift click to avoid pitch poling the Cessna.
