Ah yes a mate of mine who has some experience with computers but not with simming said the associated bmp file will usually sit directly above the associated tif file, I think we may some how have a foot in the door here 😎 cheers guys for your help 😊

is there any reference in either file to associate them with each other so you can identify them then delete the bmp version and keep the tif version before the convert process? Numbers? Anything? Cant you just "drag" the bmp file into gimp then return it as a tif?
-
let me get this right Rodeo, if you drag an image into gimp and manipulate it, save as a tif then put it back into your images with the other untouched bmp files you should not have a duplicate? Would the computer not say,"this file already exists would you like to replace it"? So, after you've manipulated your images saved them as TIF then put them back in with the other untouched bmp files do you then use the converter?

Will it convert both TIF and BMP files all together?

Ok cheers Jeff Ive installed Gimp and I'm gonna start over

Thanks for the reply Jeff, can this be done after the scenery has already been loaded or should I just delete my area and start again seeing as it wasn't that large to starthe with?

Hey dudes/gals what is the build masks option in FSET, does that tidy up your coastlines? Is it similar to Blending?
-
OK cheers, I was thinking of deleting the area that I've done all ready and doing a larger one if it's too complicated lol? After all, my first area was only about 25 square kilometers, didn't take long to convert at all was about half an hour 😎

Heya guys just wondering what's involved with trying to add another area adjacent to the one I have done already? How do you blend it in do you do it by coordinates? What happens if you slightly overlap your existing area?
-
Yes!!!!! I done it!, I got some scenery of my local Area Paraparaumu into Aerofly FS2, yeah I know its not pretty, I havn't done any masking round the shoreline or Kapiti Island. I downloaded it at RES 1 so not the sharpest but hey I dont care! I can only get better at this:) thankyou Jeff for your patience and thankyou to all the IPACS team for creating these tools so we can join in. One thing I am wondering though, can you still do masking and colour adjustments after the scenery is in or does that have to be done during the process?

Heya Jeff, Man this doesnt look so easy. I have successfully created the TFW file but am now stuck on Creating/Editing my TMC file. More the "Create" bit. In the tutorial it talks of converting the co-ordinates to decimals, The example shows the use of FSET to do this but since I selected my area I have closed FSET so how do I get the exact same area that I selected? and once I have got this information and converted to decimals where do I put this information? I dont have a TMC file which is why I'm stuck on "creating" one. I'm miss understanding the tutorial, I'm not very good at following written instructions, I'm a visual person and look forward to maybe a step by step video tutorial on how to do this in the future ??

It seems I dont have any INF files, it just keeps coming up ERROR NO INF Files, no matter which files I put in, Im lost Ive gone and deleted everything including FSET so I'm just gonna start from scratch again but for what I did download I didnt think there were enough files anyway, it says in the tutorial that It would produce 6 BMP files, I only had two
-
Ok thanx Jeff and yes I am using FSET, I wanna have a good bash at this, there's a saying, "The only stupid question is the one you don't ask", but gee, I dunno bout that lol. Is the Image file a BMP file? I have two BMP files, one is a Thumbnail so I guess that one is excluded? Ill get there in the end haha

Heya guys am just a bit stuck at this point Ive tried putting files into the inf2convert tool but it comes up error no inf files, wwhat am I doing wrong? Ive downloaded the area of my hometown Paraparaumu which is probably around 5 square kms so not too big, and am wondering if this is what I should be seeing in my directory? Which one of these files goes into the inf2convert tool?

Cheers Rodeo that has worked 😎 but I used Virtual Earth as a data source and a lot of the images that I could see loading where washed out and had clouds in them so I deleted everything and used Google Earth, it loaded clear images but when I went to my working/scenery folder there were only about 6 pics of large areas near where I am but none of my town Paraparaumu New Zealand, yeah don't know what went wrong there lol, apparently Google does not work is this correct? I don't have the programs like photoshop etc to mess around with clouds and colour and even if I did I wouldn't know where to begin😊I also have 2 Googles in my ini file, I think I've messed up here somewhere along the line, hmm, maybe I should just delete everything and start again? If I delete my ini file will it build a new one?
-
By the way I did creat a "new folder" on my desktop called FS2 Scenery and named it appropriately in the INI folder but no luck😎
-
OK I'll try this cheers man 😎

Heya guys just stuck on altering the working folder in the FSET InI file, what is the easiest txt to enter to replace the existing one? Its just that when I clicked on start it told me "Cannot Start Something is wrong with the working directory" is it because the existing working folder is invalid? I tried changing it to this but no luck
