Nice flights over Paris airports
For information, the P3D/FSX version of Paris has 3 airports extensions packs : 2 packs of 10x airports each and 1 pack of 3 airports (that is the one already included in the AFS2 scenery (Lognes, Toussus and St-Cyr). There's also an heli pack of 23x platforms that should be released for P3D/FSX soon and maybe for AFS2.
We cannot decide just now to do or not to do these products, depending on the level of sales, but we'd like to do it because AFS2 is really fantastic especially about rendering quality and frame rate !
hi,
there's no need of the english version at this stage ! you just have to click the "Acheter" button then you'll get the page to buy the product that can be switched in english, then the product documentation is provided in english and french.
Please contact the support and we'll find a solution for mac users...
The example is just to show the level of detail we are able to handle, but as explained we use in the scenery (and in all the screenshots shown) a lower level to get the better compromize quality/performance.
For the source data you can understand I cannot give the detailed exact information, for commercial and strategy reasons... but it is an IGN BATI database (ORTHO BATI does not exist ! it is ORTHO raster or BATI vector)
Our data comes from a specific contract with french IGN that is the national geographic institute. For the center of Paris city we did not use the most accurate data available because it is too "heavy" and buildings are too much detailed ! We used a compromize of grouped buildings like small US cities "blocks" to save performance, but maybe later we'll be able to include our best data sets...
The buildings looks really nice on this.
I see some irregular shaped ones. I curious if they were ported from a version of this for another sim, or whether France VFR has a tool to generate irregular building shapes, like World2XP.
We've got our own technology to generate irregular building shapes and 3D oriented roofs on irregular shapes, the most difficult
The difference with xp concept is important : our buildings are real 3D buildings, not just facades with a flat roof that are not 3D objects with all properties to apply on...
Hi all,
a lot of assumptions ... it's normal, but we will try to clarify things as much as possible before the product is released
here are several series of screenshots to better appreciate the highlights of the scenery. Paris is a very very dense area, but not only the city ! all the suburban areas are very dense too, with a lot of large, high and complex buildings, so the 3D procedural technology is everywhere and has to be optimized as much as possible !
On the 1st screenshots set are some more screens of paris area again... I tried to highlight the 3D rendering of roofs and facades because it is a very important thing compared to simple flat roofs and non-conforming facades.
On the other views I tried to show the density, the variety and the detail of the suburban areas, with many VFR markers and remarkable baiments. One of the highlights of the scene is that it is of uniform quality throughout its cover.
On the last screenshots you can have a closer look to the Lognes - LFPL airport, that is one of the three detailed airports provided in the scenery...
You'll maybe appreciate the "incremental improvement", that is the real difference between cube buildings and 3D procedural technology... but in some cases and depending on the requirements of everyone it is or it is not important
And do not forget there is not only paris city but the whole region "IDF", with all the 3D landmarks, 3D environment objects and important buildings...
More screenshots in a few hours to have a look to others areas of the scenery.
Long silent, our first scene with AFS2 is being finalized!
This France VFR scene is in a way a "demonstrator" because we do not know at all what will be the reception and the market for this type of product for this particular simulator. The specifications are substantially the same as for our scenes in the "VFR Regional" range under P3D / FSX, we will give more details shortly, before the release which will be in February.
I was not used to fly a long time on a photo-realistic scenery under this simulator, and I surprised myself when making these screens to want to continue exploring again and again so the landscape is captivating, the shadow games very successful and the overall rendering extremely beautiful !!!
This series of screenshots focuses mainly on Paris but a second series will follow and will more concern the rest of the IDF.
