Hi all,
I have started this thread so I can pass on links to the data and other useful tools that I found over time that might come in use for those wanting to create scenery/cultivation.
This list will be added to & updated on a regular basis.
NOTE: Please add any links to data & such. I am sure this area will grow as more come on board with AFS2
Tools:
AeroScenery - A must have tool for Ortho Scenery made by Nick Hod.
FSCloudPort - Was created as a free community service to simplify the process of building airports for the AeroFlyFS2 Flight Simulator.
JOSM - is great OSM editor.
QGIS - is a Free and Open Source Geographic Information System.
SketchUp Make 2017 - SketchUp gives you the tools to create all kinds of 3D designs.
Blender - Open Source 3D creation. Free to use for any purpose, forever.
Blender OSM Premium - Allows you to import buildings from OpenStreetMap.
Gimp - is a cross-platform image editor.
Overpass Turbo - With overpass turbo you can run Overpass API queries and analyse the resulting OSM data interactively on a map.
ModelConverterX - is primarily a tool that allows you to convert objects between different formats.
scenProc - Scenery Processor, or scenProc for short, is a tool to process geographical data into scenery for Flight Simulator.
SQLiteStudio - Free (GPL licence), advanced SQLite database manager with intuitive user interface, with no installation needed (single executable file to run).

That is great, thank you so much

Did you mean Bing satellite imagery?
I am going to add a switch between the OSM map and Bing satellite imagery.
yes, thank you 👍

Or perhaps use USGS data. Its very common in the X-plane marketspace: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/fil…us-orthophotos/
I believe AeroScenery might get the functionality for USGS as well

I'd prefer to keep the OSM map since it displays what data OSM contains. It's often the case that some buildings or even the whole districts are missing in the OSM.
Would it be possible to overlay a Bing or google map, it will help some of us identify the exact building we want?

Hopefully all AFS2 users will use AeroScenery, then all we need to share is our cultivation data

Hi!
I am the developer of the blender-osm addon. I'd like to thank you for using the addon.
I hope we can use this thread to discuss which features can be added to the blender-osm addon.
Randomization of the floor height and the number of floors (if it isn't set in OSM) will be available this month (September 2018).
Hello vvoovv,
Glad to see you on our forum
Are you able to add a google map to the selection square in choose map extent.
Great tool so far
Cheers,
Paul

Because there is more to flight simming than just scenery? The various shots I am seeing of Hawaii really look great though...!
True, the smoothness, the VR, the a/c.
-
Now why would you fly any other simulator when this sort of scenery is available

Bloody brilliant mate.

Have updated the template with the following enhancements:-
. Can load and process single or multiple exclude files by default (assumes that all .kml files in the source folder are to be used). Substitute .shp if you are using those.
. Will now exclude marine parks by default that usually result in "Trees in the Sea". Also handles Marine parks in Australia that don't have the word "Marine" in their name but are very conveniently consistently named. Any other Marine park without "Marine" in the name will have to be excluded using an exclude polygon. I didn't use any complicated OR statements, just stuck the 2 filters in different sections. Luckily both sections seem to work.
. Added comments about the effect of the SplitGrid command on scenProc running time and output files.
. Added comments and options for excluding plants.
. Added comments about increasing plant density and the effect of increased density on scenProc running time.
The enhancements have been tested on my local cultivation areas.
Thanks for the script mate, makes it easy

Kloot, I think I need to go the Blender OSM route for tall buildings as the ScenProc route with toc files has them fading beyond ~6km. Have you done textures before? Will they work in FS2? Curious about the Blender OSM process and effort level.
Still trying to get my head around it myself
I create .tsc files for scenery (cultivation) and standalone buildings and so forth.
