    HI

I would love to make a Helicopter (Lynx AH1 of course) some time but at the moment I am trying to populate the UK with some airports but I applaud your efforts. EGGP waiting for upload and EGNM underway, yep a long way to go.

If I may make a suggestion. As you are learning the ins and outs of the TMD file perhaps you could start a thread with your observations, tricks and tips. maybe then people might follow your lead and join you.

From my experience an object is placed by its pivot point ( red, green, blue axes) and also rotated around the same. Ensure this axis is at zero in the up/down plane else your object may disappear below the ground level. The axis doesn't need to be dead center as you can place it where you want but its best to keep it there

Some large buildings may also appear to float at some of the corners if the ground is sloped, best to move those corner verts down slightly, just remember your textures also move so a door for instance may look too short

    Hi Developers

Just a shot in the dark.. and it might be a crazy idea

Is there a figure we can adjust in any file that can help simulate the hook.. I was wondering if we could increase the power of the standard brakes to do this, so that on press of the brakes button it would apply an artificially high brake pressure to simulate the hook. It would of course mean a modified file just for that occasion so only useful for carrier landings.

Perhaps I could then build a very small airport and call it something like an aircraft carrier, hey the idea might just catch on ;)

    Hi Paul

I tries to add single trees today but with no luck. I placed a single vertex rather than a polygon but JOSM would not let me attach the preset for forest to a single vertex. it would let me add tree but this is not picked up be scenproc. Ah well guess tree planting at EGGP is finally over

I agree with the above post, it took me 10 mins to work out how to use JOSM for what I needed, admittedly not a great deal as time is short for me, In my case it was the opposite to ED, I just wanted the trees within the airport boundary so I then knew I didn't end up with trees in places I didn't want them, its hell taxing round a giant oak.

    Hi Ian

I have just planted trees around EGGP using JOSM, I found it very easy to add a region of trees, just draw a polygon and add the preset forest, but couldn't plant tree's singularly even though JOSM does allow for single vertex and calling it a tree, seems scenproc doesn't understand this only forest. tried tree row too but with no sucess

Its also possible to add roads to be used as lights as I also needed some of those around the TNT building. When exported as a OSM file scenproc does the rest.

    HI Jeff

Not been able to make a object which is visible at night but invisible during the day. I can do either but not both together. Any object which is invisible during the day does not show any light at night, I assume because the mesh is invisble and the light map only works on a visible object.

I have tried assigning a alpha map which is 254 black, this does show the object during the day, only just but it also only just shows the light at night. This would be ok for low level lighting similar to door entrance security lights but not for bright apron lighting.

I have hand placed taxi lighting, all 300 plus just wanted to add a bit more depth to them by lighting up the ground rather than just the taxi light and support pole

Meditate on this I shall but doubt we'll be able to crack it until dynamic lighting is available. Need to find a way to light up the Apron, looks totaly wrong without it.

    Thanks, Steve

Gosh I'm really going to show my age now....

My first sim was a program yourself on a spectrum...well i say first sim... I never did get it to work.. probably missed a comma or a period somewhere. I believe it was 1983 or was it 82...groan ... now where did I put my Zimmer frame..Has anyone seen my cup of tea  ok this isn't funny anymore. whose got my cuppa...........

    Hi Jan and Jeff

Thanks for the replies. Having spent the last week making bump maps, correcting the resultant rendering anomolies and waiting for planning permission for the hotel and control tower I thought I would move on to lighting.

The first case for an object will be to add a light cone to the Apron lights.

The second case I have is to apply some ground lights around things like blue taxi edge lights and where security lights around buildings meet the ground as there is a positive cut off at the moment. At Liverpool there are several occasions where this happens, mainly on the apron.

I doubt a dummy object will help as there is no geometry for the light map to show on but will certainly try.

    Will investigate and report back

    Thanks again,, Steve
