Tried around 10 or so and none of them show up - I'll download the SDK again just to make sure I have the latest exporter/plug-in.

I think that's what I've been doing - you don't need the .jpg bit do you?

Hi All,
Can someone confirm that the xref models work OK with 3dsmax 16?
I've been following the wiki tutorial and my own and imported objects show up OK but I cannot get the xref models to show up.
As in the tutorial I've been placing a 'helper dummy object' in the scene and naming it according to the xref name, then adding it to the obj group. Am I missing a step somewhere?

The x-axis in ac3d points to the north in aerofly, therefore you must rotate it before exporting.

Ah ok - got it - thanks!

This is great thanks - the only thing I'm not sure on is why the need to rotate the texture/mesh?

OK tried this but it didn't seem to work. In brief I did the following in 3ds max:
added a line around the terrain and close spline
added modifier - quadify
added texture to mesh with texture named xxxx__airport__runway (double underscore)
added modifier - Unwrap UVW
added modifier - Edit mesh - select and set color of all vertices to RGB 0,0,0
added modifier - vertex paint to confirm colors
'Compiles' OK with no errors, lights and the couple of buildings I've added show up but the ground is not flattened.

Hi Jeff, thanks - would it still be necessary to add the textures etc or would a simple mesh with the vertex colors set to black be all that is needed?

Hi All,
Figured out how to use FSET and add a simple runway with lights.
However, I can't work out the easiest way to just flatten an airport area (using 3ds max) so that landing is possible on the FSET generated background ie I'm not bothered about texturing the runway/apron/decals etc.
Any help appreciated.
