    Discovered a solution finally myself.

Search the mb339.tmd file with the insert "true". The first hit reads <[bool][InCockpit][true]>.

    Change true into "false". Done.

There is some collateral damage on the instrument panel, but nothing prohibitive.

One may not be so lucky with other aircraft.

    other aircraft.

    Appreciate your prompt reaction.

What I want and achieved except for one pursued deletion is to place a single monitor in the upright position (portrait mode) and visualize the instrument panel on the lower half of the display, the top of the glareshield in the middle and the HUD and scenery on the upper half of the display. It is in the scenery part that the canopy frame spoils the free view.

    Thank you and greetings.

My home flight simulator cockpit has a hardware canopy bow of its own. This feature makes the AFS2 rendered half-circle bow atop the fighters' glareshield redundant and intrusive.

By doctoring the 339.tmd file I got rid of the mobile rear half of the frame, the mirrors and the glazing. I never figured out how to blot out the remaining static front half of the frame.

Can someone enlighten me how to proceed?

    Greetings and thanks.

"For those of you who are looking to download some user created addons or wish to contribute to the growing library of free stuff available for Aerofly FS2 Flight Simulator, head on over to our friends website: flight-sim.org

This is our partner site… " (and presumably Ziggy's site). Anyway the desired Switzerland file is right there.

    Greetings.

How to edit an instrument main picture file?

My home flight simulator cockpit has a hardware canopy bow of its own. This feature makes the software generated bow around the fighters' glareshield

    redundant and intrusive.

Nonobstant some creative skills in other simulators, I have never figured out how to edit that subpart of the visuals to the point of making it disappear.

Is this a secret of the AFS2 trade or can someone enlighten me how to proceed?

    Greetings and thanks.

    It works! It finally works!!

More particularly the integrity check system did its job as designed, including giving out right from the start a conclusive clean bill of health where its recovery process had yet to start and was going to need more than half an hour to conclude with succes.

I did not realise that the missing executable had to be delivered through the update system, which takes an awful lot of time as we all experience.

So mr/ms admin you were right, I was wrong and reminded to not take every message for granted.

By the way, larrylynx, my copy is LEGAL. Not so sure of my ATPL tough...

    Thanks everybody and best wishes.

As I wrote "verifying integrity in Steam won't work".

    It says:

Validating Steam files - 100% complete

    All successfully validated Close

... and the executable is not even there to begin with nor afterwards for that matter.

Should we possibly look for a way to get a message "Validating Aerofly FS2 files..."?

    Your guidance is appreciated.

Somehow my main executable got corrupted and the game won't start normally.

Renaming or deleting the file and next verifying integrity in Steam won't work.

I am apparently left with either replacing it with a healthy copy or re-installing the lot....
