That explains a lot, not for me but I think Steve will get it.
Tried loading in OpenGL instead of Vulkan, now I get a black screen with sound or a freezed cockpit view with no sound.
It seems Steve has got more work to do after this AFS2 update...

Black screen with update 5 too...
Hi Steve,
Same thing here after loading the Apache (with update 4), I get a black screen, escape helps, R22 loads fine.
When I minimize the black screen I get the sound of the Apache which isn't there in full (black) screen.
Will try update 5 later but it seems something changed with an AFS2 update because update 4 worked fine here earlier this week...
Steam has different servers all over the world, maybe your location isn't updated yet?
What graphics card do you have? You need one with 6GB VRAM or more for this scenery..
The pilot position in the cockpit is indeed a bit too high and a bit too far backwards in most aircraft.
I am 1.94m and always sit as far up and back in my chair before resetting my position in VR, after that I move forward a bit to get in position.
I always use physical controls though so I don't have your problems.
The scale of the cockpits seems good to me but the starting position in VR should probably be better if the pilot position was 15cm lower and 15cm more forward in the seat?
Use the 'move' settings in controls > view to move around in the cockpit after recentering in VR....
Rightclick on Aerofly FS2 in Steam library, go to properties>betas and choose beta then Steam will update to the beta release....
Cars on top of parking garage in Orbx Innsbruck are floating too since alpha and beta release....
I had a not working stick and throttle a couple of times too in the last year or so...And they did work in settings too.
Normally it worked again after switching to another airplane/scenery or restarting the simulator.
Hi Steve,
Thanks for all your work on the Apache so far!
Same thing here with Windows Mixed Reality, screenshots show the map but in VR I have to go up close to the screen to see the map appear instead of the camera or HUD...
HP Reverb has a high resolution for a good price, Pimax can be great (for a price) with the wider FOV. Both need a high end GPU...
Hello, is it Orbx Innsbruck? Sorry for the offtopic, but how is the framerate? Recently bought Paris from France VFR, but it is unplayable in VR Now I try to get some ffedback on that before purchasing...
For Paris and Netherlands I had to upgrade to a GTX1660 Super with 6GB VRAM, before that I had a GTX1060 with 3GB VRAM. The older 3GB VRAM card did well with good framerates at Orbx Innsbruck. Depending on your PC it can help a lot to put shadows on low if needed....
fpsVR (Steam) is a great tool to see in VR the load on CPU, GPU and VRAM.
Orbx scenery are often cheaper at Orbx compared to Steam......
I guess its only expert mode for now and this one might not need an 'easy option' like the R22....
Bit of a rough flight with this gentle lady to get a feel of the improved flightmodel. I lowered the collective too much in a roll and nearly crashed.
Better is just a bit of lower collective when upside down then it rolls quite nicely...
Wow...Flightmodel EC-135 seems close to perfect now to me, the new rotor sounds are great.
What a gentle lady, almost too easy to fly compared to the Robbie, but i love it!
Will be a perfect first heli to learn helicopter flight, the R22 is still my favourite, but can be a little hard to start with...
Thanks again IPACS team !
Thanks for the lower skids option !
I guess alpha and beta build on Steam are still the same?
Very curious about the improved flightmodel EC 135, hope to find some time with it later today....
Yeah, but when you already have a webcam.....
It works good to have even light conditions to your left and right.
But it can be as good as an expensive TrackIR setup.
ViewTracker is a good option too, works with a webcam:
Some people have to build up their VR time to avoid nausea, most of us get used to it very quickly.
A 3D shooter with all it's fast action is a lot different then flying a plane, you are moving around in a shooter a lot while you can sit still in a plane with the steady cockpit around you while only the world 'outside' is moving....
Just get a second hand WMR or Rift headset for a few hundred bucks to give it a try!
