I recently sold my SteamDeck and purchased ROG Ally Blah Blah XBox X (is the name I think) and I also need to test AFFS on it to see how controller works there. Currently trying to stick with the horrific Windows 11 XBox "experience" but this is very similar to MSFS 2024 - my patience will probably run out quickly. Then I will try AFFS also on SteamOS :)

Also with the new carrier update, it would be nice to toggle hook via the gear button. When pressed once, gear goes up, when pressed again gear goes down and then finally pressed once again and hook goes down and so on and so on. Maybe this is already in the game, I haven't tried carrier landing on Switch yet.

One additional idea for Switch 2 is to have an optional, increased resolution setting at 40Hz instead of the default 60Hz (or uncapped). I find 40 FPS with flight simulators pretty good experience I rarely want to trade frames to resolution but for flight sims it is fine. This is possible on SteamDeck and PC but for Switch it is not. A simple switch between "resolution" and "performance" would be nice, but unfortunately this needs to detect if the device is in docked mode without TV in 120Hz so it is extra work to do.

Oh and more curated scenarios, I love these so much. They are the way to play the game on Switch where setting everything up is quite long process. Pick up and play is much easier. Anyways, thanks for the great work on these updates.

I totally love AeroFly FS on Switch docked mode. Actually, I cancelled my PS5 pre-order of MSFS 2024 last week after experiencing horrific bugs in the beta (could not finish 60% of flights due to bugs, this is nowhere near a finished product) and purchased AFFS for Switch instead and it is great for casual flying. Also runs like butter on Switch 2 even without any update, I am really hoping for an update that could even improve things like resolution which is okayish for now.

But I have some suggestions or requests.

First, I would really love to be able to control cockpit gear when in TV mode. On Switch, this is currently only possible via touch screen but that is not available when docked. This might be quite a big feature for relatively small platform I guess, this is why I have an alternative request.

What I liked about MSFS2024 on PS5 was that they had button combinations, typically shoulder buttons (L/R on Switch) could be combined with other buttons to achieve various things. I would love these to be mapped this way, instead of L for Fav Views and R for View Selection, these could be mapped as "modifier" keys just like Control/Alt/Shift on keyboard. Then other buttons could be used, ideas: elevator/rudder trim, fuel mixture, prop pitch, open/hide map and ability to tune nearest radio beams with OBS/radial for IFR, that would be really a huge step up. Obviously, controller is not enough for airliners (MCDU/FMS) operations but IFR in GA would be super nice. And finally, changing views would need to be moved to some button combinations since L/R buttons would be occupied as modifiers now.

I have to say, the way the current mapping is done is extremely good, I like how parking brake works (hold breaks and it will lock, increase thrust it will release). The same for spoilers (decrease throttle to 0 and keep pushing back) and autopilot is also very good thought (hold, route, land). One thing that is bugging me is the B button being mapped to "exit to menu" this is wasteful, I feel like there could be another functionality mapped to it and exiting could be just via minus/plus buttons. I think one of these buttons gets you to very limited menu, instead, this could lead to the main menu where settings are available if needed. One typically need to change settings few times and then it is done.

Auto trim seems to be broken, when I turn it off the sim still performs auto trim (elevator), there is no way of turning it off. Maybe this was decided because there was no way to change the trim on the controller, but with button combinations this could be possible now. I believe, this should not be too hard to implement and can be done via an alternative gamepad layout, there are already two. And finally, SteamDeck / SteamOS and PC controller users would benefit from this as well.

Also, gyro controls for looking around and high-res texture streaming would be a dream, granted, unlikely to be implemented. This is very niché or problematic (subscription on Nintendo not possible).

Anyway, I am super excited for Switch 2 update, the game already looks great. 8o

Thank you very much for the feedback. I saw that as well, but I’m not sure whether it’s just a logical consequence of the increased performance of the Switch 2, or if it’s actually an adaptation specifically for the Switch 2.

It is a Switch 1 code for sure at the moment, but if a game has unlocked framerate, which is likely the case, it will run more smoothly. I haven't tried myself yet, got myself a new flight gear so I am spending my time on PC right now :)

But I cannot wait to experience a flight sim on my big TV, as a Switch/PS5Pro owner I was pumped to try out MSFS2024 beta on my PS5 and even pre-ordered, but after 30 flights from which 25 I could not complete because of bugs, I cancelled my order. This is nowhere near a good product. So I will try out Aerofly 4 FS instead, if it is as stable as on PC I am not going to be disappointed.

Thank you it works now. The key thing to get it running for me was to delete gc-map.mcf there were some old bindings in the way so the game would not automatically assign. Also, it is worth mentioning that the integrated USB hub did not work for me as you noted and only after directly connecting both devices, it worked flawlessly. Also, make sure to uncheck the Use Virtual Buttons in the Windows Control Setup, it appears to store this setting in the hardware firmware. This is checked when it comes from factory so you should be good to go.

Still, I would be interested in documentation of the format.

Oh thanks, that worked! I used USB-C HUB that has 2 USB-A and it worked! In fact, the game detected the hardware and it works out of box on MacOS. I could not get it working on PC, probably because the profile already had some mappings or something, not sure how this works.

The only thing that does not work is reverse thrust, I remember in Windows I unchecked the Virtual Buttons option in the driver options app which presses buttons automatically for thrust and flaps. I guess the firmware remembers it, going to uncheck it on PC to see if it makes any difference on Mac.

    Hello,

I recently purchased Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack X Airbus Edition set and it appears it is completely ignored by AeroFly FS 4 on both PC and Mac. Since it has the very same functionality as the other products plus an extra switch that can flip between PC setting and Xbox I thought I would share the USB Vendor/Product ID and maybe IPACS could add support. Or if anyone knows how to edit the schema, I could not find any text file containing Thrustmaster in the game folder.

Here is how it reports on MacOS with the switch set to PC (sorry for the Czech language, USB IDs are there):

here is info from the quadrant when connected directly:

    Code
    TCA Q-Eng 1&2:

      ID umístění:	0x00100000
      Typ připojení:	Removable
      Výrobce:	Thrustmaster
      Sériové číslo:	XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
      Rychlost připojení:	12 Mb/s
      ID dodavatele USB:	0x044f
      ID USB produktu:	0x0407
      Verze USB produktu:	0x0200

it seems the quadrant is not detected when connected via the internal USB HUB which is something that many users have problems with. Probably wrong USB-C cable and power issues. Anyways, here is how the sidestick reports when set to XBOX mode:

    Code
    TCA Sidestick X:

      ID umístění:	0x00100000
      Typ připojení:	Removable
      Výrobce:	Thrustmaster
      Sériové číslo:	XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
      Rychlost připojení:	12 Mb/s
      ID dodavatele USB:	0x044f
      ID USB produktu:	0x0410
      Verze USB produktu:	0x0100

So all and all, it looks like the USB product IDs are:

    • 0x040e for the stick in PC mode (acts also as USB HUB)
    • 0x0410 for the stick in XBOX mode (no USB HUB functionality)
    • 0x0407 for the quadrant

    Hello,

I am trying to configure TCA Sidestick X Airbus Edition as it is not properly detected by the game and I am almost done, but I need to split the range of the throttle axis between thrust (0-50000) and reversers (50100-65535). There is no documentation on how to do that, any ideas?

It works, but I think that Aerofly should include a way to record the positions min/max, iDLE, CL and FLEX (because an update of the device could change something and make it fail with Aerofly).

Pretty please, or at least let us know how to set this by editing the mapping file.

What kind of splitting would you like to have on which plane?

    A320

But does anyone know if the split can be done, does the config support such thing? I do not mind doing it globally, in fact, I prefer that as I only fly Airbuses.

I noticed you have MacBook Pro with Thursmaster, is there any driver you installed? For some reason, my stick does not work, AeroFly does not see anything. I even tried a 3rd party app and the OS does not see anything.

Aerofly FS supports the Thrustmaster Civil Aviation (TCA) Officer Pack Airbus Edition with the Airbus Sidestick and Throttle-Quadrant with Add-Ons out of the box with suitable assignments for a user-friendly and realistic experience. Simply connect the devices and take off.

I cannot confirm, I just opened TCA Sidestick X Airbus Edition and I have it on its PC setting, nothing works. It is the same device but with a switch that can do XBOX/PC. It probably has a different USB number, is there anything I can help to set it up?

I almost mapped everything it is the reservers which do not work yet, I need to tell the sim the ranges of the axis, I am learning the mapping. Is there any documentation?

    Hello,

I somewhat configured my flight to have approach speed of 70, I haven't noticed and then I had to switch to manual speed mode. Any clue what I could enter wrong in the MCDU?

I was messing around with weights a little bit which brings a question: what is actually those weights for? Since the sim does not simulate it, what is the actual weight of the aircraft in the game? Is it fully loaded with max fuel, or half? What exactly should I enter in the MCDU? Thanks.

For the record, I found a new video about the game and the guy claims the framerate is unlocked:

Jan, can you confirm there will be any Switch 2 update for the current version, or are you planning a release as a new title?

I really want to purchase this version which is the only platform I do not currently own but I would like to avoid purchasing Switch 1 version only to find out there is a new release for Switch 2. Thanks.
