Cancun —> Tegucigalpa (PE017)

Now, we are really flying south. I have to say, from all the flights I’ve down so far with the LJ45 this one was the most exciting one! I’ve climbed up to FL470 and cruised at 470-480 kts. However, even more exciting was the approach. Toncontin is famous for being one of the most challenging airports of the world, a challenging approach through mountains, cities, steep turns and a very short runway. It was so dangerous it’s now closed for international commercial flights. Since I am on a Learjet, I am fine;) It was very fun!

(Flight time: 1 hr 03 min)

Did you do the RNP AR approach? If so, how well did the Learjet fly it, and did you use VNAV?

No, I didn’t, unfortunately. I’ve flown the RNAV arrival but visually without guidance. I don’t even know if the Learjet allows us to fly RNP approaches in Aerofly. Also, VNAV mode doesn’t work in the LJ45. It gives us descend guidance but you have to manually set the V/S.

I’d love to see a tutorial on RNP approaches with the LJ45 tho (if it’s possible)

I think in real life the learjet is certified for RNP operations, but not RNP AR, which is the type at Toncontin. Normally by pressing the APPR button I think it should engage LNAV APPR mode, which increases the sensitivity to 0.3nm, and I guess pilots would just set the V/S as dictated on the chart, but this isn’t implemented yet in Aerofly unfortunately.
