Another great approach and manual landing—part of the daily training I never skip!
We often hear that aviation is becoming increasingly safe, with aircraft featuring multiple layers of protection and complex automation systems that boost operational safety and efficiency while significantly reducing pilot workload. However, in my humble opinion, pilots are becoming increasingly beholden to this automation and often lose their manual flying skills; it makes me wonder: at what point does this go too far?
We know that accidents result from a chain of errors rather than a single mistake. That is why I continue to admire those who—instead of just reading manuals—take matters into their own hands and strive to truly master the machine.
Note that even ultra-modern aircraft still crash due to various causes, including poor management or even the misinterpretation of a specific parameter. I’m reminded of the classic accident involving the Asiana Boeing 777 in San Francisco, where the aircraft’s speed dropped and the pilots failed to take action to correct it!
Anyway, I won't delve too deeply into the subject; I simply want to take my hat off to those pilots who know exactly what needs to be done and how to do it, putting both their knowledge and their skills into practice.
