Orbx and IPACS Form Partnership to Co-Publish HD Content For Aerofly FS

Following many months of planning and collaborative development, ORBX and IPACS are pleased to announce that both companies will be publishing HD ORBX airports and other regional content for Aerofly FS simulator. Aerofly FS is a state-of-the-art 64-bit flight simulator which is recognized as having the most efficient and highest performing 3D engine on the market today, with superb lighting and animation support and the smoothest VR experience available for any simulator anywhere. The first two titles to be published are LOWI Innsbruck Airport in Austria, and KCGX Merill C. Meigs Field in Chicago USA, both which have been faithfully ported and enhanced for the AFS2 platform and even add features like a sloping runway at LOWI.

“I am extremely excited about this new emerging sim platform”, says John Venema, Orbx CEO. “We have found a development partner in IPACS with the same ideals, passion and professionalism as the Orbx team and these past months have been a pleasure in terms of cooperation and joint creativity”. Dr. Torsten Hans, CEO of IPACS adds; “We’re absolutely thrilled to be co-publishing new HD content from Orbx, a company who we have enormous respect for and have been aware of the quality of their work for some time. I am looking forward to further development of this partnership and many new exciting features to come to AFS2”.

Orbx - Chicago Meigs Field

Return to where it all began! Flight simulation has been intertwined with the legendary Meigs Field for decades.

Few airports hold as much nostalgia, familiarity, and emotion for aviation enthusiasts. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Meigs Field operated as the gateway to corporate Chicago for over half a century. Now, twelve years after its closure, Merrill C. Meigs Field (KCGX) has been recreated by Orbx and IPACS with the utmost attention to detail and accuracy.

Orbx - Innsbruck Airport

A destination that needs no introduction, Innsbruck is one of the iconic airports of the world, with a jaw-dropping backdrop, heart-stopping approaches and a location in the heart of Europe.

Orbx have created something truly unique with their first European destination for Aerofly. Within the scenery’s extraordinary 2500km2 coverage area, explore the peaks and glaciers of the Austrian Alps, the picturesque Inn, Wipp and Stubai Valleys, the historic Brenner Pass and even Germany’s tallest mountain, Zugspitze.

ORBX - Monterey Regional Airport

A classic Orbx destination brought to life for Aerofly FS, virtual pilots are welcomed to Monterey Regional Airport, one of California’s most scenic airports.

Monterey is the perfect location for exploring the rugged coastal ranges of Big Sur, world-famous coastline of Carmel and Pebble Beach, and for regional flights to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Palm Springs.

Orbx - Eagle County Colorado

Located in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, Eagle-Vail is famous for both it’s dramatic scenery, as well as it’s dangerous approach. Surrounded by difficult terrain and prone to bad weather, KEGE is a high-altitude airport that will test even seasoned pilots. This scenery covers an enormous chunk of the surrounding mountains; explore the ski resorts of Vail, Eagle, Gypsum, Avon and Beaver Creek, test your hand-flying amongst the peaks of the Sawatch Range, and mix it up amongst the mesas and hidden valleys of Eagle County.

Orbx - Netherlands TrueEarth

TrueEarth technology is finally landing in Aerofly FS starting with The Netherlands! Expect to find extremely dense building & vegetation cultivation, incredible crisp terrain textures, and effortlessly smooth performance. Flying over the Netherlands is a joy - Netherlands TrueEarth contains the entirety of the country complete with cities, towns, and countryside all where they should be. The Netherlands, often referred to as Holland, is a country located in Western Europe. The five largest cities in the Netherlands are Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht (forming the Randstad megalopolis) and Eindhoven (leading the Brabantse Stedenrij). The Port of Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe and the world’s largest outside Asia. Netherlands literally means “lower countries” - the name came from the country’s low land and flat geography, with only about 50% of its land exceeding 1 meter (3 ft 3 in) above sea level. Since the late 16th century, about 17% of the country’s current landmass has been reclaimed from the sea!

Orbx - Palm Springs International Airport

A classic Orbx destination developed by Jarrad Marshall, Palm Springs has been brought to life for IPACS Aerofly FS!

With one of the most dramatically scenic backdrops in the United States, Palm Springs is a resort city situated 100 miles east of Los Angeles in Southern California. Explore the resort cities of Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, Indian Wells, Thousand Palms, Palm Desert and Desert Hot Springs, the high-altitude alpine wonderland of San Jacinto Peak, the windswept wastelands of the San Gorgonio Pass and the harsh beauty of the Coachella Valley desert. Famous during the 50’s and 60’s as the playground of Hollywood elite, Palm Springs is home to some of finest examples of mid-century Modernist architecture in the world; many examples of which can be found in this scenery.
