Honestly, has anyone been able to get complex undercarriages to work besides Ipacs itself? I'm aware of a developers who have tried and gave up, but none who succeeded.

Just as a heads up though, due to changes at Flightsim.org, all these links (and many more) are dead.
Guess I'll put this here:
WaN: Washington North scenery from USGS images:
Usage: Unzip the main WAN scenery package that can be found here: https://flight-sim.org/filebase/index…om-usgs-images/
- Elevation data have to be placed into \Documents\Aerofly FS 2\scenery\elevation\wa
- Image data have to be placed into \Documents\Aerofly FS 2\scenery\images\wa
Usage: All other files go to …\Documents\Aerofly FS 2\scenery\places\wa (create if this does not exist!)
WaN: S97 Anderson Field Brewster: https://flight-sim.org/filebase/index…field-brewster/
WaN: Grand Coulee Dam: https://flight-sim.org/filebase/index…and-coulee-dam/
WaN: Lake Chelan Airport: https://flight-sim.org/filebase/index…chelan-airport/
WaN: Whidbey Island: https://flight-sim.org/filebase/index…whidbey-island/
WaN: KOMK Omak: https://flight-sim.org/filebase/index…-wan-komk-omak/

I asked a long time ago for that to happen, and was given a solid no, that the Sim wasn't mature enough.
This begin to seem more and more strange as twice since then, Sims that were not even actual purchasable products were immediately given thier own prominent forums.
I mentioned that point, even got into one weirdly feisty battle with a mod, and didn't pursue it after that since it seemed obvious that for whatever reason that idea was a non-starter.
I'm really glad Aerofly has finally been taken out of the basement and brought into the sun.

My intention is to help the beginners to classify the many offers correctly. When I think of my start at the beginning of 2019, I would have wished for a helping guideline. Only after months of try and error I can now unterstand the different offers.
And I can only see that getting worse and worse as addons proliferate with no established rules.

Michael,
I haven't looked at the WORLD lists in detail, but, the adjacent states to me have nothing more than cow pastures and ultralight areas, not enough to be considered an airport. For instance, when I look at Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama there is not one real airport listed. They are all crop duster barns, ultralight back yards, some obscure flying service, etc. AND this is the World Airport List, I can't imagine what is in the Grass Airfields folder.
Though if there is one thing we have learned about Krzysk1, its that a steady stream of updates is the norm.....
-
A word of caution.
Be careful not to simply copy these files to your active AFS2 data drive. These are basic tsc files with location data but, Aerofly FS2 does not handle duplicates very well so if you already have some of these airports or airfields, which most of us do, then you might have trouble isolating the files to get FS2 to run again.
You need some sort of duplicate finder that searches for tsc files. It is the lat lon of the airport or airfield, not just the name that FS2 is seeking when loading.
Michael,
I think you will be surprised. These appear to be a lot of small, basically unknown, airports in the world airports folder. Not the large, well known ones.
I suggest you might want to create a new folder for your airport data with subfolders for krzysk1's Airports, Airfields, Heliports, and SeaPorts. Otherwise the states will be duplicated. This is allow you a sneak peek at what you are loading onto your system. If it is undesirable, it will be easy to undo.
That's one of the things I immediately thought of which is why I'm not in a huge rush to download these quite yet . I suspect there will be weird conflicts here and there , and I'm too deep into my reintroduction to the world of Skyrim and the subsequent dampening of my interest in Flight Sim, at least temporarily , that I'm not up for exploring airport conflicts right now .
Still, this is a very interesting development.
I think it's good that Krysk1 provides many airfields with basic data.
But for new and inexperienced players, it's getting harder and harder to understand. I think it would be nice if IPAC could include information in its wiki that says
- there are different data sources and
- duplicates don't get along very well.
In the "order of the offered data" I see from simply to extensive:
- airfields of Krysk1 with basic data
- airfields on FSCloudPort with standard objects
- airfields on FSCloudPort with improved (standard objects)
- Airfields individually created on flight-sim.org
- Aerodromes operated by commercial operators
Bye, Michael (III)
I did a post a couple of weeks ago about the rapidly growing potential for conflicts , and about some naming conventions for avoiding same . I even requested that the post be stickied.
All ignored.... So..... meh.
-
So Krysk1 has just dumped a mass O' data into the fs2 world with no warning I'm aware of. Have not had a chance to take a look as to quality, but....... wow!
World Seaports: https://github.com/krzysk1/world_seaports
World Heliports: https://github.com/krzysk1/world_heliports
World Airports: https://github.com/krzysk1/world_airports
World (grass) Airfields: https://github.com/krzysk1/world_airfields
Could be a game-changer!

Much as I love the SIM, this is one of the things that I don't get about aerofly, in that it seems that they're helpful on the one hand, but just really secretive on the other, to the point where sometimes I wonder if they have some weird 10th dimensional concept of success that other people just can't understand.
Again and again I've heard about a programme from one of the developers that supposedly makes all of this a lot easier.
When people come to an impasse like this, that program is mentioned, but after literally years of waiting it's never been released, and meanwhile developer after developer, some of them with years of experience keep bouncing face-first off of the TMD, with particular mentions given to the difficulties of creating the undercarriage
At a certain point I feel for ipacs, and respect that they have limited time and resources, whereas on the other hand over time, there is a feeling that things are just being deliberately obscured to a point bordering on ridiculousness.
There's progress to be sure, but I have to admit I can increasingly sympathize when people just eventually throw up their hands and walk away.
LOL!
It felt good to get that off my chest even though I know it'll probably be deleted.

I had pointed out previously (several times) that these orthos were freely available for X-plane, but was (at the time) told that Aerofly itself would be doing something about higher resolution worldwide scenery etc-etc....... which never happened.
These orthos are still readily available:

Always nice to see new stuff out there for Aerofly but... What an interesting release. https://secure.simmarket.com/landclass-jack…fr_12606).phtml

I have the same problem with GCLP
Its early days. It's almost certain the happy modders will be right on it!
-
Did you change the TMD files or did you change the whole plane as requested?
-
If I'm not mistaken Sascha said that he created a custom mesh for the complex Lukla airport terrain. There's a picture of it somewhere in the Lukla development thread
Yah, the trailers mention "hand edited mesh"
-
Perhaps I'm mixing canaries and rutabagas, but how did the Lukla scenery handle these sorts of elevation issues?
-
Oh yes, I remember that every update would disable the D400 and the cold & dark Cessna mod!
True, but what I meant in this case was that the gentleman releasing the free planes adds new features at a fairly regular pace. It helps to keep checking back and reading the latest release notes to find out what's changed from...... the week before.
-
Take note though that almost none of the buttons and systems work (most are very basic models) and that the aircraft may not work well at all with the latest version of AFS2.
The thing about those planes is you have to keep checking back often, as updates can occur at any time, with added functionalities like VR controls.

Jeez guys, reading costs nothing either. It says right on the site:

HiFlyer: We just updated the Steam version. Could you please try the R22 again with either Xbox controller or VR controllers in Easy Mode. Is it controllable now?
Yes!!! Finally my evil, rudder-stomping invisible copilot has been retired.

You all know that the book on the copilots seat can control the fuel and battery? (As well as checks and tiedowns)
