Hey guys
I didn't run AFS for quite some time but now when I try to start it in vr, I'm getting this message from steam.
I click OK and it only briefly disappears and pops up again and again and again..
Anybody knows what's going on?
p.s.
I know the priority is to get rough model over to Jan and although it seem's like it, I'm not modeling the cockpit interior yet. I just need the inside structure in place so I can "wrap around it" with outside layers.
Thank you..
Just imagine, the rear center gear of the 747 has an upper part, then a middle part (damper), then a lower part that hinges and also steers at low speeds. 4 main gears, one front gear, all retractable, more than half of them steering.
You know I newer really appreciated detail like this but I'm sure I will now
Hey all
It's been little quiet but I'm still tirelessly working on our Cub. Finished landing gear mechanism and gave it a try..
(it's a landing on one wheel)
I also modeled large portion around the cabin, and clean up lot of existing mesh.
To be honest, until now I didn't have a clue how much work there is on a single aircraft like this.
Well, bit by bit, we'll get there eventually;)

overall width from left to right.
Close the door, open both windows and measure across (where the arrows point)
Hey guys
The work on CarbonCub is progressing nicely however, since I've moved onto the cabin section I found some more differences between PA-18 plans and my CC reference photos.
I think that I've got most of the proportions right by now except the actual width of the fuselage. I couldn't find any good front view picture (leveled plane and taken from distance with low optical distortion), therefore I'm going to need little help here.
If there is anybody who has access to CarbonCub or know somebody who does, please look at the picture below.
All I need, is the measurement between two identical points. These are the OUTSIDE width of the fuselage, right under the windows front bottom corner.
Thanks in advance
Jay
BTW any response from CC ?
Thanks Ray,
I love doing this, can't believe I didn't start making planes ages ago...
Hi
There was this discussion about ORBX and UK earlier, where somebody mentioned that access to high quality aerial imagery makes the task difficult and expensive.
That got me thinking.. ORBX have produced England and Wales regions for other sims already. Wouldn't it be good enough as a source material for AFS version or am I missing something?

Can you please the tire for the tailwheel and the rough shape of the cockpit glass next? Throw on a little bit of texture then I can make this beauty fly in Aerofly
Maybe I'll record myself editing the file and speak over it, then upload this as soft of a tutorial
I'm pleased you like it boys..
Jan
I was gonna suggest that I'll finish the rest of the outside model to the same stage as you can see on the tail. No hinges, wires or anything smaller than orange for example. Basically I wanna get the main geometry done, smoothed and UV mapped before I send it over. Otherwise I'll have to do it again and again plus it will get messy with too many copies etc..
Also are you able to do joins and animation of moving parts?
I picked up a good pace and my brain is slowly restoring all I've learned using 3dsmax couple of years ago (I was mainly modeling in CAD programs since) so I ques you will have the first stage model by the end of this week (if you take care of the joins)
Over and Out

great stuff.. thanks
