Rodeo,
Look what you started - now beautiful objects can really be added. Thanks again for getting us going!

This almost looks real. Thank you to all involved in getting this to work properly.

This aircraft is just a static model, and will likely remain that. Unless one of you talented aircraft designers care to tackle it...
Is it possible IPACS has this reasonably well modelled already, or just a cosmetic prop? Can you find out dr hotwing?
I know that it's not on any upcoming aircraft releases, but that doesn't mean there isn't an underlining functional model for it. I'll see if it will eventually be a release candidate.
I cant take decent screen shots in VR
Do you know that you can bind any key or button to the "take screenshot" function in FS2. Those screenshots go into your documents/Aerofly F2/Screenshots folder. In VR they come out as full screen and look pretty nice.
Yes, most likely the DC-4
By the way, El Centro is the winter training base for the Blue Angels. Can't wait till we have Multiplayer and four of us can jump in the our F-18s (especially in VR) and fly in formation. With our high frame rates, we should be able to do as well or better than the FSX world.
That would be pretty sweet
Can you post a picture of it? Learn that SDK, maybe you can make one
Jeff,
Excellent, nice to know. Thanks.
We are exploring the possibility of using a customized Voice Attack profile to provide pseudo ATC for the flight tutorial. It might be just too much work but it sure elevates the immersion level.
Regards,
Ray
Just be careful making a tutorial with a 3rd party application integrated.. The tutorial will be used by many that don't have or will use this application for their own use and may confuse users if made a part of the tutorial.
Ray, I'll be here when you are ready.
Once I have the tutorial I will get it over to the Wiki but I'm not too sure about adding video tutorials into Aerofly FS 2 at this time. There are just too many other priorities for development at the moment. I wouldn't spent too much time working on video tutorials unless you plan on publishing them on YouTube or something in-kind at this time.
Any chance in a future update it can be made so when using Vive controller for dials/buttons, when trigger is half pressed or something it locks on to that control until released? Would make turning dials etc a lot easier.
Give it some time. Vive and Touch support is only preliminary. This will be improved.
I had just woken up, had a little coffee, was lazily checking through several daily sites like I normally do when I saw the topic of this thread popped up after clicking New Posts. My eyes actually opened a little more, excited that we might get to check out (cough)Utah(/cough) today until I realized it was from the last big geo patch they did. (sigh)
Well, I'm awake now...LoL
The new DLC is coming shortly, keep drinking that coffee
Display MoreHello Jan,
I wonder: when you rest, Jan ?.
Sorry to have written the communication I made to the forum today. I did not expect an answer until Monday, and today is Sunday, day to rest and disconnect from work.
In addition, I expect brief answers, especially when the video can not be archived (replay function). You have extended much in your explanations; For this, doubly grateful.
And please, do not answer me, at least today.
Kind regards: Delfin
I don't know about Jan but I find myself monitoring both this and Steam forums 7 days a week around 13 hours each day. And I hold a full time job as a CIO. We are that dedicated to making sure that the community is happy.
I notice the forum header seems to have changed, with a picture of the Learjet and some other alterations. Unfortunately, the picture and text seems to be surprisingly low resolution, and for me at least, suddenly gives a sort of "bargain-basement" 16 color vibe to the forum.
Is there a higher resolution version of that picture available?
Really? Looks sharp to me on a 27" screen...
Honestly, that's a bit surprising though, as Orbx is usually very very precise about tree placement within the detailed areas of a given scenery, and I would be almost startled if they produced a scenery with trees kind of willy-nilly within the confines of a town, city or airport.
They would manually have to go up and down each road to set block out points I believe so that trees don't populate in those areas.
Until they find a better way to map where trees should be the only thing that works for me is to set tree density to "LOW".
And to be fair the result is quite good.
The problem is that the placement is within a range so precision is difficult, and also trees are placed randomly not specifically. if OSM is introduced that may make tree placement more accurate but there are more important things to develop right now so it may be a while before it's introduced.
Hey Jeff,
All textures were in there. I am thinking the special FSX materials were causing the issue. I had hoped I could get around that.
I do not need to use FBX in this case. FBX is for exporting and importing a scene. Here, I am exporting the model itself, not the scene, and when you export it, it has the IPACS SDK so it exports in a proper TGI file. So that is running correctly and smoothly.
It does sound like the special FSX materials may be your issue. I hope this works out, your model looks really good. Good luck and keep us posted.
Did you pack all of your textures into the same folder before converting? I've seen this happen in 3DS Max before. Also, are you using the free Autodesk FBX converter tool to change from .3DS by any chance?
In my past life I was a 3D model developer making animated rides for Theme Park Studio in 3DS Max, but it's been a while so bear with me
Hee hee - fair point. It was a hasty cut'n'paste via ipad. Updated.
It took me an hour to read that book
