Basically, copying from FS2 to FS4 already works for all airfields.
But whether the result looks good depends on the objects. I explain this with the example of three identical airplanes on the apron, one with heading 090°, one with heading 180° and one with heading 270°:
- IPACS stores each object correctly as a single object.
In the example there would be now 3 stored airplanes with in each case already the correct heading.
=> Here the copying works.
- User-created cultivations store each object only once in a basic positioning and call then this object in in each case changed orientations.
In the example there would be the airplane only once in the basic position (e.g. Heading 000°), which is now called 3x with the individual pegs rotated.
=> Here the copying already works, but all three airplanes would be with the heading 000° (home position).
I tried once how the airfield PHNL (Honolulu) would look like -- it is to be seen all, but nothing fits.

In FS4 both airfields can be made visible for easier location:
-- duplicate icao_(airport-name).tsc to icao_(airport-name).wad
Both airfields can now be found in the Location menu with the ICAO code or name.
However, there are no positions to choose from; positioning, orientation and altitude (GND) of the aircraft must be done with the mouse.

I fly with my FS4 mainly the Q400 as well as the EC135 and now the UH-60. Especially for flying helicopters I love realism controllers and have therefore now bought the PTF PUMA X - for me me just great.
But if I want to fly only "so from the hand" and with the mobile versions FS2022 and FS2023 I use a gamepad, the NIMBUS STEELMASTER. And there I use the paddles just for helicopter flying, because that increases the fun for me significantly.

I use the Gamesir pro 31 via Bluetooth. When I start the simulator, all control panels disappear except for the co-pilot. I can no longer switch views and can therefore neither take a tour of the aircraft nor enjoy the view on long flights.
…
To use the overlay operation together with a controler it might be helpful to switch on the controler only when the simulator is STARTed.

see: https://www.aerofly.com/dokuwiki/doku.php/simulator:mcf
"User Defined Scenery Folder
You can define a second custom user folder by adding or editing your desired extra user folder path to the field:
located within the main.mcf file.
The directory on your disk must contain the sub-folder “scenery”. This gives users the ability to place their custom scenery in a location other than the documents folder located on the root drive."

I have a MacBookPro 2021 with Apple M1 chip and FS4 via STEAM works great so far. So I don't really have any concerns that it won't work for you - but I can't guarantee it. Whether you can return the software with STEAM if it doesn't work, I don't know.
-
I am not aware that there are demo versions.
However, I can confirm that the FS2 app works on a MacBookPro 2012 and MacBookPro 2018, and via STEAM the FS2 and FS4 versions work on a MacBookPro 2021 in addition to the devices mentioned.

As far as I know Krzysk has converted all of his models on GitHub
krzysk1 - Repositorieskrzysk1 has 60 repositories available. Follow their code on GitHub.github.com -
Basically, the different settings you mentioned work quite well.
Unfortunately, two settings for single-engine aircraft override those for multi-engine aircraft:
- Engine master
- Engine start

It only depends on the aspect ratio of the screen. On a wider display (relative to height) you can fit more data
I can understand that it depends on the aspect ratio which information is shown.
I cannot understand that it depends on the aspect ratio at which positions the individual pieces of information are always shown (see YELLOW double arrows) - in my opinion, this can be optimised.

Thank you Jan for your answer, but it does not satisfy me:
Both windows show the same FS4 session, I just reduced the window from full screen size to a quarter screen size using the mouse pointer.
- I don't find it logical that the 4x as large window can only show less information than the small window - I would understand it the other way round.
- Regardless, the elements shown in both window sizes can all be shown in the same order and do not need to be swapped.

The iGMap (FSWidgets) also works for me.

It would be nice to get as original a checklist as possible (so far I haven't found one on the internet) to include such points as switching the various exterior lights on and off.
