In a lot of instances I have been seeing this strange effect on trees and it is kind of disappointing. It ruins the beautiful scenery.

What you see here in 'action' is called 'Alpha to coverage' a method to render transparent objects without the need to sort them back to front first.
There are other techniques for rendering those objects but we haven't implemented them yet either due to performance reasons or because they are not supported on all 3D graphic cards.
