A little tip to do manual holding

  • As there is no simulation for holding a waypoint in Aerofly for now. I found out a way for those players who are interested to do holding ( which are very few players ) . You need a little bit of maths in this. Lets say you are heading to 244 and now you want to do hold. Following are the steps you can take:

1). Switch to ( selected mode for heading in airbus ) / in boeing you can simply rotate the dial for heading.

2). As our current heading is 244 you need to calculate opposite for this heading which is in this case in 64 rotate heading knob all they way to 64 and aircraft will turn 180 degrees towards opposite direction.

3). When you wish to stop holding ( and enter your fmc path ) as our heading is now 64 and we want to go back to 244 turn your heading knob again to 244.

4). In boeing after turning your knob to 244 select LNAV mode this will cause aircraft to follow your route when it intercepts your planned path.

In airbus as you turn your knob to 244 put your heading in managed mode this will cause aircraft to follow your route when it intercepts your planned path.

Most importantly this will only work if your aircraft is flying on obviously autopilot.
I tried this technique on various aircraft and it works perfectly
In boeing select bank angle to 25 or 30 degrees to avoid aircraft slipping away from its original path
Keep speeds below 250kts (IAS) OR below 270 Ground speed
