Need help with RC7 on Mac

I am using an iMac 27" running Sierra 10.12.2 and aerofly RC 7 recognizes my Futaba 18MZ however when I go to step 1 and attempt to configure my tx channels it only recognizes the + side of stick movements and not the -. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Don't understand your post.
the sticks do only move to the + direction? in which menu? at the calibration menu of RC7 or in the menu, were you can assign the channels? so you have to calibrate your transmitter before assignig channels. did you do this? so if you did this, check in your operating system, if it had recognized your transmitter or try to calibrate your transmitter in the os.
some more information could be helpful.

I have done the following
1. Open the program in iTunes
2. 18 MZ is in trainer/student mode
3. Select USB interface
4. Go to step 1 in easy setup assigning controls and when moving the sticks etc. to their limits results in the top or + half turning green and then white. Moving the stick in the opposite direction or bottom - side results in nothing happening. therefore it will not assign these movements. if proceeding to the next step anyway results in a warning indicating no movement for the channels marked in red.
I do not remember ever seeing the screen "Select Device Layout" alluded to in 5.1 "Setting up your input device".

Did you done the menu as shown in the pictures?

As I indicated in 3. of my response. Yes I selected USB interface #1. It still only recognizes stick movement in one (the +) direction.

(from Post Nr. 6: "The trainer port output is in PPM mode when the trainer mode is disabled. If the trainer mode is activated, the signal from the trainer port is not compatible with the usb interface."

Sorry that despite the fact I have no idea about Apple, I humbly try to help:
what are servos doing if you use a receiver instead of the interface?
Do they really have the full throw to both sides?
If yes, the problem is definitively in the area of calibration.
Either in the interface or in the simulator. Do you really have the latest version of RC7?

I went into the tx and changed the number of channels from12 to 8 and it all works as it should . I don't know why this made any difference however I am able to use it now. Thanks for the help.

Glad to hear so.
Obviously your interface can handle just 8
"PWM"
channels.
This is not uncommon but should be mentioned in the operating instructions.
In antiquity of RC this was a limit which could not passed over without some tricks.
But now we have 2017...
