Hi there,
in several youtube videos and reviews I have seen an incomplete use of the navigation map.
Therefore I made a small tutorial for navigation giving an example for route planning.
Is this of any help?

I have added the installation manual to the post above.
It's really fun on a cheap level but way behind an oculus or vive setup.
At least ist works technically and that's what I wanted to achieve.

Hi there,
after some testing I could run display aerofly FS 2 with my Samsung GearVR.
Yes, I know all about the drawbacks like image quality and lacking movement sensors.
But it was a just a successful test to run aerofly in VR on my Samsung S6 mobile phone with the GearVR headset.
And of course the rotation sensors of the mobile do work. So I'm right in the cockpit and can look around.
Later on I will give more details, but in the moment I want to go on with flying and experimenting.
Read the full story behind:
A few weeks ago my son came home with a HTC Vive for a week of testing.
It was loaned from a friend. We installed the sensors, adjusted everything and run several applications with this high end VR set.
Also aerofly FS 2 started without any problems.
After an hour of aerobatics over San Francisco and low level rushing with the F15 through the Swiss Alps I was completely motion sick. My family found me wobbling around and with a extremely pale face.
This immersion was so intense!!!
However we decided, not to buy the HTC Vive right now. But the Samsung GearVR for my mobile was worth the test.

Edit 01.02.2017
This is the setup to run aerofly FS 2 with the gearVR.
Establish a lan/wlan Connection:
Make sure, your pc is connected to a router, best with a lan cable.
Make sure, your mobile phone is connected to the same router, best with fast wlan.
Use Cardboard apps for Gear VR:
Install the cardboard app on your mobile.
Run the app and switch to cardboard mode.
Without this the gearVR will automatically start the oculus home app as soon as you place your mobile into the gearVR.
The cardboard app allows to toggle between cardboard mode and gearVR mode.

VRidge:
Install the vridge app on your mobile.
This enables RiftCat to connect to your headset.
After start of the app it displays a connection code.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riftcat.vridge&hl=de
RiftCat:
Install RiftCat vridge client on your pc and run the app.
It will automatically find your mobile when vridge is enabled on both devices.
Select the button Play Steam VR games in the riftcat application.
Log into your steam account and select aerofly FS 2 simulator.
Select Play in VR in the steam window. Enjoy!!!
Jet-Pack,
thanks to your hint I tried slightly different values .
<[tmvector3d][Direction][ -0.1 0.0 -0.99 ]>
They are also modified in the code block above.
Flickering is gone with these values.
I don't know how to assign a camera to a certain key, also F12 is in use for screenshots.
But at least you can modify the cameras.
I tried this with the Cessna 172:
Open the c172.tmd with a text editor and search for
// cameras start
Then I added this block:
<[string8][object][camera]
<[string8][Name][TopDown]>
<[string8][Body][Fuselage]>
<[tmvector3d][R0][ 0.0 0.0 30.0 ]>
<[tmvector3d][Direction][ -0.1 0.0 -0.99 ]>
<[bool][InCockpit][false]>
<[string8][Tags][Fuselage]>
<[string8][Description][Above aircraft]>
>
The camera is mounted 30 meters above the aircraft and the view direction is vertically down.
In aerofly you can toggle between cameras with key 4.
Unfortunately I have a strong flickering of the scenery, so it's not the final solution.

Hi, flickering is gone with the hint of Jet-Pack, I corrected the values above.
Let me give you an example of the Cessna 172.
Open the file c172.tmd in the directory ...\Aerofly FS 2 Flight Simulator\aircraft\c172.
You may use Notepad++ or any other text editor.
Search for the string graphics_human.
<[string8][object][graphics_human]
<[string8][Name][Pilot]>
<[string8][GeometryList][ PilotBody ]>
<[uint32][PositionID][Fuselage.R]>
<[uint32][OrientationID][Fuselage.Q]>
<[uint32][ShowInside][CameraCopilot CameraRearSeat CameraRearSeatSide]>
Modify the last line to this:
<[uint32][ShowInside][CameraPilot CameraCopilot CameraRearSeat CameraRearSeatSide]>
Now the camera is in the head of the female pilot, but we have to move the camera a little bit more forward to her eyes' position.
Search for the string CameraPilot
<[string8][object][camera_head]
<[string8][Name][CameraPilot]>
<[string8][Body][Fuselage]>
<[tmvector3d][R0][ 0.62 0.23 0.55 ]>
Modify the last line. First value shifts camera position forward/backward, second left/right, third up/down:
<[tmvector3d][R0][ 0.78 0.23 0.55 ]>
Now you have quite a good immersion of the pilot's body.
Oh, of course save the original file before editing it. And you also may copy ypour modified file to another place to avoid replacement by a software update.

Jeroen,
I followed alle the discussions at avsim, orbx and read your aerofly fs2 review.
It' s good to have you also here in this forum and I see how you get deeper and deeper into aerofly.
I find your recent posts very encouraging to try similar adventures in aerofly.
Therefore: Thumbs up!
Hi,
we already had a discussion about force feedback.
You may read it there:

Great to see the Dash8 in aerofly!
This summer I just had 2 flights across Iceland...as a passenger, not a pilot
Ups, can't find the attachment management??? Done by editing the posting.
Anyway, the Iceland Air painting is a really nice one.
Hi,
I updated the game profiles and restarted the system.
It worked immediately fine.
Many thanks!
Hi Ipacs,
does FS2 already support TrackIR? Can't get it to work.
How to set up for viewing?
FS2 shows both devices, my Multiflight stick for controlling (works fine) and TrackIR.
Win 10 64bit, TrackIR5.4 latest version.

Come on Steam,
give it all to me.
I just have 10 GB, still several hours more for downloading.
Will be too late to play tonight. That's hard.
Eagerly waiting

Ohje,

Karl-Heinz
Hi RockNBurn,
it would be great if you could enter the small developers community.
...Also 3D parts should be water-prove, which, I think, makes the shadow calculation better or faster. ...

While creating a 3D model, this is an important point: Verify that all objects are closed 3D bodies. In blender a tool may exist which checks for gaps or holes.
