Hello, 
In the sim there are many buildings with reflective windows.
I see in Aerofly FS Wiki it says to add _reflection to the end of a image file but not much more on the way to complete task.
Does the image have to be a certain type or stand alone image?

As far as I know you need to add a separate image in form of an 8bit grayscale bitmap (if it doesn't work try a 24 bit one).

Yes, Jan is right. It sould look like this:
xyz_color.bmp
xyz_reflection.bmp
There is no need to assign the additional maps in the 3D program (you can also use specular und normal maps).
A good value for windows would be around 75.
