Split scimitar winglets for 737-900er

  • IPACS purposely didn't include the split scimitar winglets on the 900ER to avoid confusion with the MAX.

The short field performance upgrade has been considered but it's not something most users would be able to differentiate from the default, or in other words most users don't know what it is. So development time is probably best spent somewhere else.

The split scimitar winglets look very cool but according to the decision makers they look too similar to the Max winglets and would cause confusion when selecting the airplane. I think this just comes down to personal taste. I like them but that doesn't mean a week of development time should be sacrificed for this. Perhaps sometime in the future, currently we are somewhat busy with other things.

  • What does this have to do with America 😂 America is not the whole world 🤦 We have two planes, each with different winglets. That's enough! 🤷🖖

What’s with the straw man? He never claimed America was “the whole world”, he mentioned that with his anecdotal experience, he’s noticed a vast majority of 737 have been retrofitted with the split scimitar winglets. It’s a common thing in North America and I’ve noticed it as well. It wouldn’t hurt to add those attention to detail touches once in a while now would it?

Better not to reignite an argument and invoke the wrath of ThomK .

Kind regards, good day, and bon vol!
