Hi! I have always wondered what how far the map really goes on aerofly, so I tried flying south from the edge of the map below lake Geneva. First I tried to do it in a jet because that is the fastest, but then I found that when you leave the map, the throttle stops working, so you end up just crashing. So to get round that, I used the discus glider, because since gliders have no throttle, the air brakes come on instead. And also, the discus has an engine that you can use, which luckily, still works off the map. When you get to the end of the world, it just stops dead, and I found that you can even fly off it! I dropped down off the world, until I was at 0ft and then managed to land on nothing. But when I tried flying into the side of the world, I crashed.
Here are some pictures:
The third one shows the 0ft elevation at the top!
The end of the world!

Hi!
I flew around the map in a modified F18. It took a long time but I saw the dimensions of the huge map.
You can fly north up to Mannheim in Germany (I allready landed in Stuttgart (EDDS)), as far East as Munich (EDDM) which includes Innsbruck aswell..., South to about Torino (Italy) and West into France to Lyon.
The scenery doesn't look as pretty as in the suisse of course and it was not ment to be flown over it but you can and it still looks great from a high altitude.
Cheers,

You can fly north up to Mannheim in Germany (I allready landed in Stuttgart (EDDS)),So are there actual airports off the map that you can land at?

There is a bumpy terrain with low resolution textures (to save file size I guess) and you can land on it if you got the skills to land on hilly terrain and know exactly where the runway is. Then yes. Otherwise: not really, no
Cheers,

This limitation will be removed in our next update for the iOS version.

Wow the aircraft textures are much better on the PC aren't they! It's surprisingly un-pixelated actually, but I suppose you are pretty high up.

Yeah thats FL400 and yes the PC version is incredible (it uses 24GB of files - what else would you expect)! I cannot imagine playing the aeroflyFS on such a small screen (but apparently a lot of people play it on mobile devices). I just love to fly on two large screens which is basically 2K if you want
These images are compressed. Imagine them beeing 1080px high

Wow! That looks amazing with two screens!! I know what you mean about having a small screen on the mobile version, I use an iPad mini and the view width is slighty less than ideal (I feel sorry for iPhone and iPod users, who get and even narrower, but slightly wider view than me), but it is good enough and does the job. I've got to get the PC version at some point!

Can you have a view that wide with oculus?

The Oculus Rift fills your entire field of view at least thats what they tell you! (Its a bit like wearing a helmet) If you turn your head it follows the camera in game almost instantaniously. So you can't see anything but the amazing scenery and the immersion is fantastic! This extreme fov comes with a price - the resolution is pretty bad. Take a monitor with full HD sit right in front of it that you can barely see the edges. Thats the resolution you'll get - Yeah. Not the best thing every but they are working on it. I've seen alternatives to the oculus rift, one projects the image into your eye like a movie projector does (Avegant Glyph “Personal Theater” Goggles). It has a much better resolution gets much more brightness and you can't see any pixels.
Here is an interesting video about the alternatives:

Having goggles like that for aerofly would be amazing!

Yea pc is beautiful one things that's interesting apple released there next processor and I wonder what iPacs will be able to do with it especially the metal feature anyways beautiful pics jet man blows my fsx out of the water on that and that's standard scenery not enhanced!

Our next iOS version will have no more restrictions as far as the scenery goes. Especially with the new iOS devices we do have a lot more power to render more.
However we are currently running test on different iPad and iPhone devices. Our goal is to also support this unlimited area on older iOS devices. -
Sounds great! Can't wait until the update.
