Jet with manual nav aid tuning.

  • I was only recently aware that the VHF box in the MB-339 worked and is not affected by the L/VNAV update which killed normal nav-aid use in the jets including the non glass screen 737. There is only one box so the ILS frequency must be dailed in once lined up but the compact lay-out makes up for this, an approach check can be made without panning, helpful if VR or trackIR type devices are not being used.

This is just established on Zurich runway 28. The at-a-glance layout is very nice. The 339 is a good plane for a straight forward normal bad weather flight and is a fast alternative to the Baron or Cessna, the other non neutered instrument capable Aero planes. It also has a reasonable trim response speed.
