... to understand the new animation projects, i am trying out the new modelconverterx beta.
After countless hours of trial and error, i found a way to convert a complete scenery to aeroflyfs2.
Now i give a short tut:
download:
- modelconverterx beta !
- irfanview for batchconvert
- total commander for easy fast file transfer
go to x-plane.org,
register and download your scenery airport you want in aerofly fs2,
free master libs like
misterx library,
cdb library
extract scenery,
delete othophotos if included.,
search and copy all texture files bmp. png, dds to eart nav data,
convert all texture files with irfanview batch to jpg,
copy again all to earth nav data,
start modelconverterx,
select wizard and import scenery,
open earth nav folder and load, wait until scenery is loaded completely,
generate scenery and fix as many errors as possible (load missing libs from x-plane org)
don't worry if textures are not shown in modelconverter x, then generate scenery again,
now most important: save the scenery as wave front .obj to earth nav data,
start modelconverter x again, load obj , save and convert as object aerofly tgi,
run sdk object converter to full convert
...
Thank you Volker.
An interesting approach, which could be important to increase the amount of available scenery for AFS2.
Would you mind making a TUT video of it, as the number of steps needed is quite huge?
This would help a lot to replicate the work you have done.
That would make you a hero.
