Don’t put anything in the steam folders. The repaints should work fine if you add them in a folder with the exact same name as the plane in your user documents.

That should work... or rather: It does work for user made liveries and default aircraft, I haven't checked it with repaints for the 3rd party aircraft but they should behave the same. Let us know if that doesn't work and we'll try to find a solution. I'm not sure if we ever considered adding user made content for third party content. That like add-on-ception.

Worst thing that could happen is that any steam update just removes all of your custom liveries if you have them in the Steam folders. Or it could cause issues with our application that we wont be able to reproduce or fix for you.

So yeah you can keep the files there but don't be sad when steam just deletes them at any time.

Don't you have another solution to create for example a repaint folder in the aircraft folder?

The simple and elegant solution is having a dedicated folder in your user documents that contains all user made content. No Steam update or installer is ever going to touch that and it just works plug and play if you copy it to another computer.

If you put files into the default game directory it can cause all kinds of issues. From update installers or Steam removing your files without notice, the game crashing, game not starting because of new read/write permissions for your folders just to name a few.

Ok, I just tested it with my developer build of Aerofly FS 2.

It works great

I used this path and it shows up and loads perfectly.

I dont think Documents / Aerofly FS 2 / addons does anything. Not sure though. It's just a copy of the same folder structure as in the default installation folder. There the addon folder is used.

is there a main.mcf file in home/.config/Aerofly FS 2/ ?

If so then yes that is the right folder.
