I'm looking at getting a new iMac and hoping to get AF4 for it. Strange question, but does the simulator pause if you switch windows / apps? For example could I leave it running in the background whilst on autopilot / cruise whilst I check my emails etc 
And secondly, just to confirm the 'Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus Edition' works fine on silicon macs with AF4?

No, the simulator does not pause if you let it run. In fact, I go to sleep when i fly so you can keep it running, and yes the Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick does infact work.

Yes, and Aerofly manages correctly the full screen mode.

Yes, but be careful with the old fashion USB-a on the Thrustmaster devices, you'll need an USB-c adaptator

That's right.
The Quadrant has an USB-c socket but delivered with a USB-A/USB-c wire.
The standard Sidestick gets an USB-a câble.
The Airbus X Sidestick (PC or XBox) has an USB-c socket (I suppose this product works on Mac in PC mode).
Does anyone know if this makes use of the gyro for pitch and roll? Or does it use the sticks?

It's perfect for Airbus controls but it should not for other aircrafts.
I assigned buttons like the attachment.

But don’t know if it works with Aerofly, and neither if it works on Mac.
And one more thing, unfortunately, Aerofly doesn’t simulate the Airbus sidestick behavior on other planes whenever a stick is connected instead of a yoke (it would act on the cockpit yoke like it acts on Airbus commands, so you could apply trajectory corrections translated into a yoke position).
there is no reason why the sidestick couldn't be used to fly all the other aircraft
But maintaining a sidestick like you maintain a yoke is not easy.
