Budaörs (LHBS) airport, Hungary

  • Budaörs Airport was Hungary's second international passenger airport between 1937 and 1950. After that, it was a military airport for a short time, then it became the national center of small aircraft aviation (sport, air ambulance, water affairs, cartography, agricultural aviation) until the beginning of the 90s. It is currently a private airport. Since it is not included in the simulator, I would like to please the developers with a couple of photos, so that when they have time, they will create this airport as well.

The circular building is currently a monument.

  • ‘The years before the war’ Were those DC2s (and DC3s)? 1930s spats on the Ju 52/3ms are similar to those on the first Ju 87s.

On the first picture is an Air France Wilbaut 283-T trimotor and a KLM Dc-2 from 1939. The Wilbaut's wheel cover slippers really look like Stuka's. And, of course, the wheels of the passenger Ju-52s were also wrapped. :)

At that time, mainly KLM used Dc-2/3 planes, but Romania (Dc-3) and maybe Swissair also flew with them.

“Maybe we’ll get Ag-Kamovs some time?”
I would be very happy about it. :)

  • There is also the Goldtimer Foundation at the Budaörs airport, which has brought several old aircraft and keeps them in airworthy condition. A sad incident happened to the Foundation's Po-2 aircraft on an airshow in 1986.

“The PO-2, piloted by Károly Császár, was being shown at the Budaörs airshow in 1986, when , at the end of her stint, the pilot died of a heart attack, while still airborne. The plane - luckily - landed on her own, with the dead pilot still in her seat, suffering some damage. After the damage was made good, the PO-2 became the most popular and sought after Old-timer Aircraft flying the Hungarian colours.”
