I have set my altitude with V/S set to 0 and my heading is also set set my 737 mantinades altitude and heading for a few minutes then my warning lights and bells go off. I try to reset my AP slider goes down and does not reset. Everything looks fine. The AP does work on the 737 right. Not much on the wiki pages about the 737 At this point in my training I just want to fly straight and level, change the heading on the dial and change the speed using the throttle (auto speed it off) learning the AP one peace at a time.

Did you move any of your controls? Or did you extend flaps for example?

    Was the autothrottle engaged?

Perhaps the plane goes far out of trim with your power and speed changes? If you stabilise the plane and trim it for proper 'hands off' will the auto pilot work if you re-engage it?

When you control the throttle manually and the autopilot just controls vertical speed or altitude hold then you have to be careful that you dont stall or fly too fast. The ap will disengage in either condition.

    Dholm,

Check that your airspeed is not so high or fast that the AP disengages.
