Great fun. Take-off from LA, climb well above the towers and then pull the mixture to fuel off. Auto-rotate to a roof-top heli-pad, try to survive.

Are you not expected to slide forward a bit on the skids? The rotor is lightweight so you don't try to hold off for a slow flare.

Sounds easy enough but lots of scope for a c**K up, must have done hundreds and I doubt any were perfect

Yes autos in the Robbie are sporty to say the least. It has very low rotor inertia, so everything happens very quickly. I don't think I was ever entirely comfortable doing one.

All mine were Gazelle, light as a feather,
I did do one in a Westland Scout, that was like an out of control house brick, the ground rushed towards you at an alarming rate....one was enough for me
