Boeing 737-500 Classic

Description

The B737 series is the world’s most popular family of medium-range jet-powered aircraft. The B737-500 is a shortened version with the modern technology of the B737-300 and B737-400. Initially presented as B737-1000 in 1987, the name was changed later to the currently valid version name B737-500. In February 1990, Southwest Airlines was the first customer to whom the B737-500 was delivered. The aircraft is approved for a maximum of 140 passengers. Usually it is operated with 100 to 110 seats. About 390 units were produced.

Our 737-500 is a classic 737 with old “steam gauges”, retrofit CFM56 engines and UNS-1 FMS.

Key Features

Physics Simulation

These things are fully simulated in Aerofly FS:

  • Full multibody aircraft that bends under load
  • Natural gear compression and damping
  • Center of gravity shift from gear retraction
  • Simulation of thermodynamic turbo-engine and engine electronic control (EEC)
  • Cold and dark startup

Aerodynamics & Flight-Controls

Aerofly FS features a realistic aerodynamics simulation and this aircraft is no exception:

  • Native wing flex simulation
  • Independent simulation of slats, flaps and roll and ground spoilers
  • Low approach speed from triple slotted fowler flaps
  • Auto spoilers and auto brakes
  • Realistic handling characteristics
  • Yaw damper

Aircraft Systems

Custom coded aircraft systems and behaviors specific to this aircraft and based on real world flight manuals:

  • Fully interactive cockpit
  • Full electric network with batteries, buses, generators, electrical switches and electric loads
  • Bleed air flow including cross bleed engine starts
  • Pressurization system
  • Fuel pumps and hydraulic pumps

Autopilot and FMS

  • Older 737 autopilot version
  • Flight mode annunciator (FMA) with separate AP/FD columns
  • Flight management system (FMS) with LNAV/VNAV
  • Retrofit UNS-1 Control Display Units (CDU) with with route planning

Instrumentation

  • Old analog and mechanical round gauges
  • Mechanical attitude indicator and airspeed indicator with manual airspeed bugs
  • HSI with VOR/ILS or NAV (FMS) display
  • RMI and mechanical approach speed calculator
  • Master caution and warning system
  • Adjustable instrument, annunciator and panel brightness

Animations

  • Dynamic lighting
  • Realistic exterior lights
  • Flight deck windows
  • Passenger and cargo doors
  • Folding air stairs
  • Yoke checklists
  • Seat arm rests

3D Directional Sounds

  • Fan buzz, exhaust jet noise, N1 and N2 turbine and compressor noises, air starter and engine spool up
  • Authentic radar altitude and GPWS callouts (incl. V1)
  • Takeoff configuration warning, stick shaker, overspeed, bank-angle, gear horn, fire bell and other warnings
  • Wind sounds, ground roll, passenger signs, cabin chime,…
